Debbie and I decided not to go to the big show in Palm Desert last night. The first time in a long time.
But at the last minute, we thought let's drive to the neighboring city of Indio.
We parked on the "banks" of the Whitewater Wash to view the show from all the people with their illegal fireworks.
It was a proverbial war zone!
I'm not sure how all those folks can afford just lighting their money on fire like that.
i actually ended up at a commercial event (margaritaville hollywood)
we had great time
food and drink was on point and the fireworks show was on a huge barge at sea
the dj was decent most of the day/night (especially if you like a large dose of bruce springsteen )
all in all a nice experience
Yeah, that sounds fun. I like fireworks when they're done by professionals, not these dangerous DIY celebrations. I saw some really nice fireworks on the riverfront in Jax a few years back.
Yup, same story here. Other than a three-day weekend, I just don't care at all for this holiday anymore. Just an opportunity for assholes to be loud assholes.
It's become my least favorite holiday. In addition to the people a few doors down with their non-stop fireworks, a guy across the street had a smaller celebration going on. I looked out the window once and saw him sort of randomly point one of the fireworks and then run away and I thought, "yeah, that looks real safe." I'm sure people have some left over fireworks that they'll be setting off the rest of the week too. Probably late at night.
Neighbors a few doors down were lighting fireworks from about 9 until some time after 1 a.m. last night. Obnoxious. Early on, I went outside to have a look, and a loud burst went off a little too close for comfort, so I ducked back indoors. It seemed like some of the fireworks were exploding right outside my window as I was trying to go to sleep.
Fortunately, the house is still standing this morning!

People who keep setting off loud fireworks/firecrackers on a Monday night (when MOST people have to work next day)—when they've had ALL F-ING WEEKEND to get it out of their system—are just thoughtless (and probably very drunk) dicks.
That is all.
