In the United States we would never dream of operating on anyone without consent, let alone a malnourished and barely conscious 9-year-old girl in septic shock. Nevertheless, when we saw Juri, that’s exactly what we did.

We have no idea how Juri ended up in the Gaza European Hospital preoperative area. All we could see was that she had an external fixator — a scaffold of metal pins and rods — on her left leg and necrotic skin on her face and arms from the explosion that tore her little body to shreds. Just touching her blankets elicited shrieks of pain and terror. She was slowly dying, so we decided to take the risk of anesthetizing her without knowing exactly what we would find.

In the operating room, we examined Juri from head to toe. This beautiful, meek little girl was missing two inches of her left femur along with most of the muscle and skin on the back of her thigh. Both of her buttocks were flayed open, cutting so deeply through flesh that the lowest bones in her pelvis were exposed. As we swept our hands through this topography of cruelty, maggots fell in clumps onto the operating room table.

“Jesus Christ,” Feroze muttered as we washed the larvae into a bucket, “she’s just a fucking kid.” (...)

Deep down in my gut, I have a sense that this form of violent radicalism will meet the same kind of force in me. And it wasn't me invoking it... an eye-for-an-eye is still much prevalent, due to an unsatisfied, ubiquitous hunger for power and money.

Spiritually speaking, these energies reside at the lower end of our spine, even lower than our sexual desires. Check out the Vedic chakra-system, corresponding with classical Chinese wisdom from thousands of years ago.

The Jewish Kaballah (think of Merkaba meditation) isn't far from it, as mysticism always is non-sectarian, regardless of their historical, cultural, or religious roots.

In that  sense, learning to meditate on the spiritual eye between the eyebrows would be a good counter-measure to any further decadence or even perversion that man is ready to play to the universe (no chance for good luck with that   ! ! !   ).

This week, the Washington Post reported that the United States has sent $6.5 billion in military aid to Israel since October, a mind-boggling amount of help for a state that is committing a genocidal assault on the Palestinian people in Gaza. The previously undisclosed sum includes $3 billion alone in May of this year, the same month that Israel began attacking Rafah, an area densely packed with civilians who had been told it was safe.

Despite the majority of Americans disapproving of Israel’s extermination campaign, the US government remains firmly on the side of the Israeli state, willing to shred the long-standing pretense of a rules-based international order and even allow Israel to expand the war into Lebanon for the sake of maintaining its strong ties with its key ally in the Middle East.

It’s a demoralizing reality, and one that was boldly on display in this week’s presidential debate. The proof of this elite consensus on Israel came before either Donald Trump or Joe Biden uttered a word, evidenced in the choice of moderators: CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.(...)

Chikli has since led a targeted push to counter critics of Israel. The Guardian has uncovered evidence showing how Israel has relaunched a controversial entity as part of a broader public relations campaign to target US college campuses and redefine antisemitism in US law.

Seconds after a smoke alarm subsided during the hearing, Chikli assured the lawmakers that there was new money in the budget for a pushback campaign, which was separate from more traditional public relations and paid advertising content produced by the government. It included 80 programs already under way for advocacy efforts “to be done in the ‘Concert’ way”, he said.

The “Concert” remark referred to a sprawling relaunch of a controversial Israeli government program initially known as Kela Shlomo, designed to carry out what Israel called “mass consciousness activities” targeted largely at the US and Europe.
