I hear it too much on RP, play other tracks by this artist or play this other artist or just for the love of god stop playing Porcupine Tree.
I hear it too much on commercial radio, too much in the horrible memories of my horrible youth, too much too much.
1 is sort of valid because it's funny how, after listening to RP for years, hearing some songs 4x a year seems oddly oversaturated. But mostly it's not valid. 2 is not valid at all. RP can't control your intake of music from other sources; don't blame RP if some other outlet has ruined a song for you.
i like most of the p-tree stuff
hey if i can learn to like/tolerate BSpringsteen there's hope for you
but it seems that most of the beefing is related to hearing something everywhere/a lot
with the choices (via tech) available today isn't this something you can control with very little effort?
burning out? try an audio book/lecture/podcast of interest
that is all
It comes in two flavors:
I hear it too much on RP, play other tracks by this artist or play this other artist or just for the love of god stop playing Porcupine Tree.
I hear it too much on commercial radio, too much in the horrible memories of my horrible youth, too much too much.

One of the greatest intros of all time, teamed with the unequivocally worst version of Jane ever. For the best version, you want to luxuriate in the greatness of the Take No Prisoners album. It's my favorite Lou record, by all means.
And, "did you ever meet anybody from Wyoming?...Not me."

Regardless of how much I try like this song, there is always that tightening knot feeling in my belly, and my youth memories of war back home just starts flooding over…
Everyone has a responsibility to not only tolerate another person's point of view, but also to accept it eagerly as a challenge to your own understanding. And express those challenges in terms of serving other people.
Grr... I have wanted to rant on this for a long time...
ALL singing is contrived in some sense or another. Tom Waits gets EXACTLY the sound he is looking for. He knows precisely what he wants and he's spent a long time perfecting it. For me this is no different to a classically trained singer. Have you ever listened to a really good soprano or tenor? It is EXACTLY the same thing.. they are looking for a certain sound and invest a huge amount of time getting there. And most professional singers I know have a really high regard for singers like Tom Waits. Ok, so your benchmark might be clarity of tone, closing the vocal chords, getting rid of that breathiness most people naturally have when they sing. But by crikey, that is not the only benchmark out there. But then are aiming at singing Lieder or opera. At a guess, Tom Waits isn't aiming for that genre.
Whoa. I hit 10 like I was going for BIG BUCKS NO WHAMMIES then I sobered up and remembered the drum track and realized, while my inner teen disagrees, this is a 7 at best. Which is still good enough to dance to naked.
