So I was taken aback when I drove by my old house last summer and saw one of those robot zoomba lawn mowers going up and down the lawn. I was actually replaced by a robot! And I never trained it.

Total Agreement. Go for the food, not Austin Hollywood. However, just a few miles S.E. of A .... The Original Black's BBQ opened its doors in 1932 in Lockhart, TX as a meat market. Still going strong. Effin unbelievable brisket. Won't eat any other. I want that memory to remain until I go again. *and the chorus sings*
No need to drive to Lockhart (unless you want the road trip - which we have done a couple of times), when it's the same Black's that's on Guadalupe!
We had some leftover Franklin's and I don't know that that's the best way to go: stand in line and eat it hot, you bet. Would drive the hour out to Cooper's in Llano again, because it was great and the experience was too. Filled with regret that we didn't get twice as much brisket...

Franklin's if you've got the time for the experience; otherwise, either Black's (on Guadalupe) or Terry Black's (on Barton Springs) are good. And, yes, the two different Black's barbecue joints are from the same family, but split after some family drama - you'd be surprised how often that happens.

Have been to Smitty's (IIRC) - brought there by an old friend who had told me he was vegetarian.

Agreed. Franklin's is an experience in addition to excellent bbq. The Black's are best for just going for the food. You're in for a treat.

At the beginning of the Rona lockdown I stumbled across The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, which I recommend to us all. It's a light, simple thing that's fun to read while making some things obvious: you don't want your kids going through your stuff deciding what's important. Make that job simpler for them.
(Favorite moment is when this nice old Swedish lady gently, politely suggests that you want to get rid of unnecessary or unused sex toys.)
I've been using it as an obstruction as I go to buy more vinyl/CDs - does my son really want to inherit this or will he just dump it at Goodwill?

It's hard; the deconstruction of a House's soul, purging it of that sense of "Home."
Nothing hits your mortality button so hard as to clean up a deceased person's home and ... life.
How many corners in that room was the Christmas tree placed? Over there was where the TV was on the floor as we watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon! Remember when Dad lost the wild baby bunny and was up at 1 am moving furniture to find it?
It's hard to stay focused and on task with the emotions that keep coming.
No siblings, nearby relatives or kiddos. I'm on me own. I take RP phone app over and crank it up to keep moving and not stop to think too much.
Yes Iâm doing the same thing for the past couple of years. Unfortunately Iâve got a ton of buildup over those years and it took me 8 year of putting it off. Itâs not an easy thing to do and Iâm only scratching the surface. Plus I still live here too.
