I used to hate driving in Phoenix because you had a mix of bad drivers from all over with all different bad habits so you never knew what was coming at ya next. Then you had all the old folks with their forever drivers licenses with no regular eye tests or even renewal testing etc.  Driving through or near retirement areas was like driving inside a pinball machine because not only did you have blind people in Caddies and Lincolns but also Kamikazes in golf carts to avoid.

At least here in VA the bad driving habits are mostly predictable. For instance if a car has VA plates they also don't have turn signals.

Have you ever driven in Arkansas?  They have to be the worst drivers ever.

When I start to experience road-rage, I try to put perspective on it.

Will it matter in 5 minutes?

Yes, people regularly pass me in Chicago when I am cruising at 75-80mph, but I try to stay out of their way.  I think overall people in Chicago drive pretty well, just very fast.

That sounds like Germany. I am ok with speed but have big problems with people who are inconsiderate. Generally, I think Germans are pretty good drivers, there are some arseholes who race up behind you at 140 mph or more on the autobahn (when all lanes are anyway full) and then flash their lights at you to get out of their way even though there are about twenty cars in front of you overtaking a truck but apart from that they are pretty ok.

I had passive agressive road rage yesterday, and I caused some road rage.

Coming home on 90, on which the average speed is 72 in a 55, I got pissed because everyone in the ending left lane rushes to cut in front of the drivers in the left lane, so I decided to do what the trucks do and drive in the middle of both lanes. It was only a matter of 1/4 mile or so, but those people behind me could not stand it, and drove around me on the left shoulder, going about 75.

I was in transportation in one way or another for close to 20 years, including being a state certified CDL instructor and tester.

I'm glad you realize how much of a mistake you made. What you did was not only discourteous but extremely dangerous. I'm somewhat speechless

Exactly. That powerstroke may have torque, but it takes its own sweet time delivering it. Dang thing can hardly get out of its own way. All the more reason I'm not gonna give up an iota of precious momentum...

Just researched this a bit and I think you are right. They didn't change the law. Maybe they did some kind of media campaign to remind everyone what the law is.
