So, anyway, I wish I could remember what kinda tomatoes these are... because, for all their special treatment and tender care, the tomatos were very meh. I suppose there is simply not enough sun on my property for tomatoes. Or much else for that matter!

Oh, aren't all you all sweet! Someone tell that poor high desert hillbilly to fix her hair. She needs to be slapped up side the head with a bottle of Dolly Parton peroxide... So, back to all that is important in the world -> -> -> RASPERRIES! Yes, as Mr. RaspberryResentmentSFW said, they will grow just about anywhere. I planted these along the back fence, near the alley. We refenced a couple of years ago and that didn't wipe them out, which is a good sign of their longevity. I don't cut them back as I used to; I'm not exactly sure why I ever did. My grandfather, in his retirement, would spend June and July picking wild raspberries along the Missouri River in Sioux City, Iowa. THOSE were never cut back by anyone. He used to go out in coveralls and heavy boots, in the sticky humidity, and come back to their house like he'd been attacked by a tornado of cats with their claws out. Thankfully, my domesticated berries aren't quite that painful to harvest. EVERY TIME the pump for the yard irrigation, they get water via a soaker hose. The key to keeping them happy is lots and lots and lots and lots of water. And some fertilizer. And some picking. Lots of picking so that they know they are appreciated.
