I wouldn't suggest doing anything to the exclusion of all else. There is a wide range of motion when using ropes, and getting and sustaining the wave form, in whatever plane you're working in, is hard cardio, solid core, great for the legs, and will turn your arms into putty.

Pretty good for 1 minute's work...

One minute would be good.

Working with ropes — great whole-body exercise. I'm going to pick up a 40' at the local marine shop. I can do at least some of it in my basement. On nice days, it'll be great to take outside, using a KB as the anchor.

Most of the exercises I'm familiar with, and certainly the 'basics' involve the legs. There is a "seated press" which is damned tough but great for core/torso strength. You can't use your legs because you're seated.

I agree with the diet thing. can't let the body get into diet mode.

will kettleballs work in a seated position? are there any videos showing this?

Still on a morning schedule for work-outs, as far as possible. Really liking how it sets up the rest of the day.

My wife is now using both the 8 kilo and 12 kilo kettlebells for her Providence workout and is really enjoy the KBs — they help to make a person lean, trim and strong, not bulky like a bodybuilder or just plain big like a weightlifter.

I'm using the 24 kilo for Providence on as many rounds as possible when I work through it. When I get a little cash flow, I'll buy a 20 kilo bell — going from 16 to 24 kilos is too big a jump for some of the routines. On "off days" I'm learning some double bell work with two 12 kilo bells, trying to get the form down — it has a great cardio element and is great for strength..

And thanks to all this, my ice cream cravings get satisfied regularly! I'll repeat this re: "diet" — IME, it's vital to have a day or two each week where you're not "dieting". I've read that the body goes into starvation mode if it thinks it will never have anything delightful/sinful again, but if it gets a treat a couple of times a week it just goes about burning calories, not saving them. Based on my personal, empirical evidence, I'd say that's true.

Great you kept the weight off... gaining weight and then working it off again is a cycle for me, but it works every time. Best part is feeling more energy and a little lighter on your feet.
