He does a little ultrasound and a brief massage on my heels, then gives me a dose of cortisone. Last week he taped my arches for the first time. (I had to take the tape off after 3 days, because I developed a rash (it's supposed to stay on for 4-5 days)).
I've done everything right. Swimming and biking to keep up some fitness routine, and stretching and icing the injured area. There has been progress... but the past 2 weeks I've plateaued.
Is there any point to continuing PT? Should I find someone else? I feel SICK about the money I'm spending.
Maybe this is not the same thing but I was having some acupuncture done by a Chinese doctor when I mentioned a spur in my heel. He zapped it; it hurt like hell and has been gone ever since which would be about fifteen years. note: not all acupuncturist are equal edit// adage: no ice in China

winter wrote: Yes to both these things. I have a chiropractor who does Adrenal work, and have talked to him a little about it (can't afford the treatments). It's such an inexact science. the chemical soup that is us is so overwhelmingly complicated. Example: if I was to strengthen my Thyroid without strengthening my Adrenals first, I could do some damage. I think my Adrenals and/or Thyroid just sputter sometimes, and the result is I'm so tired I can't function. If I had health insurance I could get it looked at... but I'd probably have to go outside the mainstream health care system to actually get it fixed!

winter wrote: Oh, I know it's not "legal" yet - but neither was the disease my brother died of. Not until about 2-3 years before he was diagnosed. Whether it's "real" or not, people exhibit symptoms that point to the adrenals getting worn out—and there are supplements you can take from a healthfood store to aid that—as well as numerous holistic approaches to treat causes and not just symptoms (like stress). And until there's some pharmaceutical product that they can point you to——you can bet western medicine won't call it "real" for quite a while.

rosedraws wrote:I am having a slow metabolism day. I have often thought there was something wrong with my thyroid, as sometimes my symptoms are exactly like friends of mind with thyroid problems. But it's intermittent. And the day I got tested, I was fine. I can go days and weeks without the usual symptoms. So, I think my thyroid just won't start some days, like an old car battery or something. But boy, today is bad. Can't think straight, bad chills, can hardly sit upright in the chair... I'm gonna try to find something to make my adrenaline pop a bit... something scary or exciting... because I do plan to swim today, and I don't want to doze off in the middle of the lake! Anyone wanna get in a fight with me? Look into this....and see if it resonates. A chiropractor (who is also a holistic doc) told me about it.

This is an old injury recurring. I can do it through skiing, cycling whilst out of the saddle and occasionally whist rowing.
It is what I would describe as an extension injury and is usually the result of a jerky movement whilst leg is fully extended or a slight twist whilst putting weight on knee. Did it this time by slipping on the garden path and it doesn't seem to be settling after a week.
I'm thinking maybe cartilage rather than muscle and I don't want to take any longer than a week out so i was planning on doing exercise (not involving the above types) this weekend.
Any offers?
I am now a rock solid proponent of Physical Therapy. What a difference it is making on my Plantar Fasciitis! It's just great to have someone explain what's safe to do, what isn't, and how long I should wait before doing something more strenuous. Just find one that's recommended by a couple people.
