Thinking back to Uganda shortly after the fall and eviction of nasty tyrant Idi Amin.  The once opulent country was in ruins and tatters.

There's something you're supposed to do when you turn 62 but I don't know what it is - or if it's a good thing or a bad thing. So I was told by a social security lady a couple weeks ago.

There's nothing you are supposed  to do. But you can apply for social security. Perhaps with disability! I did. I don't recommend it though. Benefits are way lower.

i know less than nothing about your situation (and that probably applies to lots of other stuff too)

however, you may want to explore a local expert in your area regarding benefits

like a retired social security judge/employee

i'm sure there's a checklist, and you may have options

like do you go for regs or disability?

which is more beneficial in your case?

ss droids may not be that helpful in navigating the system

just a thought

I'll find a person who knows this stuff and ask some questions.
Otherwise it'll all pass me by like a galactic hitchhiker.

Spending 2 hours on the web and telephone trying to find out why 2 packages that were "delivered" by FedEx never showed up.

What happened?  Did the White House buy out FedEx?

That would make me cry too. I once hit a deer in a really weird unexpected place - in the middle of traffic w/3 lanes in each direction near a major intersection. I don't know what happened to it - it flew over my car and had I stopped I could have caused a crash. I pulled over and balled for 10 minutes straight. Sorry about your experience - very upsetting.

I called the local police this morning to see if I could find out anything about the situation ... specifically the condition of the woman and her dog. The officer hasn't called me back yet. I didn't walk Weezie up into that neighborhood this afternoon.

(edit) I talked to the police earlier, and the woman and her dog are okay.
