I like FB being personal and playful and crude when needed.  My friends get pretty raucous too.  I choose the raucous friends over work friends.

I guess I just have to ignore him? Should I explain??

DO NOT explain. Just decline. They aren't notified that you've declined, so there's no "whoa, she doesn't like me" affect. I feel the same way, I don't want to have to filter my humor and self-expression. Here or on FB.

Why don't you just set up a group filter and set it so that only certain people see your status updates?

You can go into your settings that will only let them see certain things. Go into your settings, I think.

Facebook also counters that users can still control whether non-friends can see your Friends List by going into the hard-to-find profile editing settings on your profile page (under your profile picture) and unchecking the new check-box in your Friends setting that says "show my friends on my profile".

However, if the goal with these changes was to clarify the privacy settings and make them easier to find and use, then Facebook has completely failed when it comes to controlling who sees who you are friends with.

If you close it out without responding, nothing changes.  IF however, you respond to it, note that ALL the questions DEFAULT to no privacy at all.  You must change all of them to "use old setting."

A little sneaky, methinks.

I haven't been on FB in a week or more. Anyone else getting an "unsupported browser" error? I'm getting it with Firefox and IE.

edit: found the problem. The greasemonkey script needed an update. No more shunning. For now.

I'm sorry, but if you need to scam people to keep your company going, you have a flawed business plan.

Totally.  Stupid capitalism.
