Yeah. This Morning Show on KEXP is pretty strong. Good for a sort of commiserating catharsis.
That station is so good, I could spend hours on You Tube watching all of the amazing artist that come and play concerts in their studio. They have the most diverse selection of independent artist and their acoustics are really good.
We took Charlie to meet Kevin Cole and wound up getting a tour of the whole place. That room they built for in-studios is so fantastic, no one could possibly ask for any improvements. They have a small apartment with beds for touring indy artists, a washer-dryer, place to just hang out. Legions of volunteers ripping CDs and archiving everything they can get ahold of, the main DJ booth is a fishbowl that looks out from behind the stage/gathering space that also has the coffeehouse and record store. If you had a million dollars and said "what else do you need here?" I think they'd say "we're good, thanks." Someone just bequeathed them 10 million, in fact, and it's going to programming and promoting indy music around the world, not to capital improvements.

Shit. That's A's favorite band. I was really hoping he'd turn up okay.

I lost one of my heroes this past week; Art Bell the notorious late night purveyor of all things off the beaten path. The fortunate synchronicity of working night shift and the heyday broadcast of Coast to Coast AM blessed me with the knowledge of a whole other world and ways of thinking. Thank you Art, no one did it like you.
Are you sure he's really dead? Not abducted by some one/thing to keep from spreading the word?

Just think of all the thousands of times that didn't happen. I occasionally find out about fine musicians or authors only a week or two before they die. Is it me?
That happened to me with Gord Downie, lead singer of Tragically Hip. I really liked "Anne with an E", the Netflix adaptation of "Anne of Green Gables" which uses TH's "Ahead By a Century" as the opening song. I'd heard the track on RP and started reading the comments about Downie's farewell tour. The way he went out was amazing but when I watched the clip of Gord ending the last concert of his life with "Ahead By a Century" it was like getting punched in the gut.
And David Bowie. I hadn't paid much mind to him in the last few years but watching his "Lazarus" video—he was so thin and tired—I felt guilty for forgetting him.

Deeply weird: we had a 40-min outage earlier today, and the song that fired up when I restarted the server was "Wake Me Up" by Avicii. The next notification I get on my phone: Avicii dead at age 28.
First time we'd played anything of his in 2 years or so.

Cue Twilight Zone theme...
