In answer to your query "How come women don't have "losing the freedom to have sex with other men" in the minus column on their side of the balance sheet?", you already know the answer to that one, but I'll respond to it anyway. A. Women simply do not value this particular "freedom" as highly as men. I'm sorry if you don't wish to accept what I'm about to say, but it is true: men are promiscuous by nature. Like it or not, we like spreading our seed around - to as many willing partners as will let us. Sorry honey, that's just nature talking (and no amount of feminist blather is going to change this biological reality.) It is part of the maturation process that women (and men) come to accept this fact of life - and deal with it in some way.

This was in fact how previous generations, my parents', for example, looked at it. They accepted the basic biological differences between the sexes and proceeded from there, accepting the fact that the sexes ARE different and have different expectations regards the male/female relationship. Female strategies differed from woman to woman, of course. Some chose to look the other way in response to their husbands' philandering (especially if their husband was a high status male - think Rose Kennedy.) Others chose to eschew relations with men entirely. I truly believe that, in this regard at least, my parents' generation was a lot wiser than mine, and succeeding, generations. Unfortunately, today both sexes have been totally screwed up by feminist philosophy.

Sure. There are a few genuine nymphomaniacs out there (I've had the pleasure to run into a few in my life. Ha-ha!) but they are in the minority. The "freedom" to be promiscuous is a freedom most women do not value highly and will gladly relinquish in order to satisfy her other more pressing needs - security, comfort, and (if the relationship is legitimized through marriage) improved social status. From the female's way of looking at things, it is a very small sacrifice indeed.

Incidentally, there are a few women who agree with. They are usually among the more intelligent, honest  members of their sex. Not many to be sure, but they do exist. You need to get out into the real world more often and see for yourself.

Curious. The CDC - not sure whose "ilk" they are, but they seem like a reputable outfit - has an issue with your "facts". Their data (see here) doesn't show a tremendous difference between the number of partners men and women 15-44 report over the 12 months preceding the survey. 18.9% of male respondents reported having had sex with more than one partner over the previous twelve months versus 14.7%of female respondents. If men really are promiscuous by nature, they're doing a remarkable job of keeping it under wraps. And it doesn't look like women are that disinclined toward multiple partners.

Your basic assumption is still that men lose by monogamy and women gain: a woman who bags a man somehow gets status and security, but a man misses out on the very slim chance of having more hot non-committal sex. And you're not seeing that this assumption has a number of readily apparent flaws.

What "status" do women gain from a relationship? Women can make just as much money as men do - yes, there's still a wage gap, but it's far narrower than before and it's not enough to keep a woman from financial security on her own. Women are just as capable of taking care of themselves as men are. Women don't need a male to keep them from falling into the spinstery abyss: being single is no longer some kind of stigma for either gender. Nor do they need a male to keep them from poverty, since they can and do go out and earn their own money. So what, exactly, is this "status" that women gain?

And, by the way, I'll thank you not to call me "honey" again. You're not my type.

It's far better when people hear the truth from a woman.

And the unpleasant truth about relationships - and the reason that so many man avoid them - is that the man is required to give up a lot more in the "deal" than the female. The female almost always gains something (security, higher social status, etc.), while a man nearly always loses something (much independence, freedom to have sex with other women, etc.)

Many men may indeed want a long term relationship with a woman, but find the price of admission way to high.

So a woman is safer and acquires social status from having a man - one feels sorry for all those poor lesbians, once again damned to second-class citizenry by the mere fact of being. They just can't catch a break.

I'm curious, though: what "independence" are you sacrificing, apart from that whole "freedom to have sex with other women" thing? And how come women don't have "losing the freedom to have sex with other men" in the minus column on their side of the balance sheet?

What about gay men? Are they gaining or losing by a relationship? Because it sounds like a net win for them: sure, they don't get to screw around any more, but they both gain status and security, right? Because they both got them some sweet man-love?

Here's the reason why you keep getting labeled an immature misogynist - it's because the shoe fits, and the tooth-prints on the uppers are a dead match for your own pearly whites. Hard to see how "women gain from relationships with men while men lose out by committing" is anything other than a contempt for women (because they're inferior, you know - they have to get a man to move up, or they'll become dogface spinster loser NILFs). But by all means, enjoy your wild hedonistic life. Skim the shallows and call yourself Cousteau. And wonder why you only catch the little fish while the best catches slip away.
