Hmmmph. I suppose my hackles were raised un petit peu when at about 23 seconds in the stentorious voice over mentioned that "faith has driven us to become the greatest people the world has ever known" Oh, OK then. Hey guys, yes you, the people who think that "faith has driven us to become the greatest people the world has ever known", we-ell, there are quiet a few of us, not many, just a few billion of us who don't quite agree? Those of us who've created the classical myths, calculated the diameter of the Earth thousands of years ago using geometry a big stick and two shadows, honed the science of mathematics in the middle east - introduced the concept of 'zero', fermented wine 5000 years ago in the city of Shiraz, plotted the passage of the stars across the skies before most of you even think the universe was created and on, and on, and on. FFS, your biggest heroes, the Pilgrim Fathers, wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for the fact that the idiots who crammed themselves into one tiny vessel, the Mayflower, because the other vessel they chartered, the Speedwell, was such a pile of shite that it couldn't leave Plymouth, met a native American, whose name escapes me, but I'm mid-rant, google it yourself, spoke English on account of having been in London for many years, and helped them survive. I believe turkeys may have been involved. They had no agricultural implements to speak of, they had little fishing tackle although they did, apparently and somewhat bizarrely, have lots of nice shoes. It may be more appropriate that Thanksgiving should be in honour of the well-travelled local who saved their arses (I'm still not going to google his name because I'm determined to remember it myself). A most fitting example of multi-national and multi-cultural understanding and co-operation. /rantfromasentientmemberofthehumanrace

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King spoke to over 200,000 people from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. He gave what is regarded as one of the most inspiring speeches on behalf of brotherhood, liberty, and the peaceful struggle for equality.
Later this year, on the very same steps, on the anniversary of that historic speech, Glenn Beck will lead his congregation of predominately white followers at a "Restoring Honor" rally...
... Will Beck be permitted to tarnish this anniversary with his exclusionary fear mongering and conspiracy brigades?
This may be just one day in summer, but it is a day that should be reserved for uplifting recollections of our better nature - not the Apocalyptic negativity of racists and enemies of the poor and huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The anniversary of King's "Dream" deserves better than to be desecrated by the detestable likes of Glenn Beck ...
This event should be stopped. He should not be allowed to spew his hatred and racist rants on the very place on the anniversary of one of the most famous speeches in American history. He should be silenced once and for all, he serves no good to mankind. Not to defend Beck, but what racists rants? Or is this a continuation of the very tiresome and jaded race card in play? I can agree with this. Our constitution deals with most of the issues, but we don't uphold or adhere to it. I'm not very worried about believers in the supernatural taking my justly acquired property by force, they don't have a police dept, military or an agency authorized to use force. We could have a conversation about what's missing too. Regards

I meant I just don't believe that Beck has any ideological agenda other than lining his own pockets and/by spreading purposely-divisive opinions and misleading information. Maybe behind it there is a "smaller government" concept - who knows? -Regards
