Speaking of speakers, another friend of mine has some Bozaks. He offered to sell them to me for almost nothing, but I don't have a room big enough for those monsters. I suspect it would be hard for most anyone to get spousal approval for those things.

A side note regarding vinyl, while I'm here. I got some new audiophile vinyl the other day. Two had to go back. One was from Classic Records ( when will I learn?) I piggy backed Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits (68-71) for the return trip. I sat down and auditioned all three lps the other night. Each of them is flawed. The problem is, how many more times do I spend $10 for shipping to get a good copy. And, they are pretty good, so the worry is that I may never get a copy quite as good as these. I'm inclined to keep them all because I know how bad they can be, but I also know how good they can be, so I'm torn. I get tired of investing so much time, energy, and money, in an effort to get a good copy.

Anyway, the Classic Records vinyl is Cannonball Adderleys Somethin' Else. It's one of the most 3D two channel recordings I've ever heard. Just amazing. Fortunately side 2 is perfect. Side 1 has some of that odd, almost digital (like) noise in a few cuts. Enough to bug me. Probably not enough to send it back and risk getting one that's worse. Hopefully a more aggressive cleaning and running the stylus down the grooves a few more times will take care of it. Otherwise it just sounds amazing.

The Fleetwood Mac has noise in Man Of The World. One of the quieter cuts, wouldn't you know.

Wes Montgomery, Smokin' At The Half Note, has random noise.

Oh Well.  :smile"

That sucks about all the bad lp's. I pretty much gave up with most new records. I was lucky and my new Doors Box set was ok but my Neil Youngs Greatest Hits had one record totally missing from sealed packaging and you guessed it they never sent a replacement and they accused me of lying!
Some Bozak models are pretty huge and they sound best with big band and old jazz. I haven't found a woman that can put up with me so I don't worry about WAF. This way I get to keep using my 101.5 inch tall electrostats....

I'm not sure now which Klipsch speakers he has. It's a floor standing 3 way with a rear mounted passive radiator.

Oh hey, I talked to a friend of mine yesterday who has a Fisher 500-C. (I think that's the model.) I had no idea he was into analog. We're gonna have to get together and spin some vinyl. He has an old Technics turntable, and some Heresys, (I think)

The RC80 was the first turntable ever made to use a magnetic cartridge made for microgroove records.. Its predecessor the RC70 from '48 was one of the first turntables made to play microgroove records. Loricraft, a high end audio company owns the Garrard name now.

The Garrard company had been around since about 1721 as jewelers and later made range finders for artillery. After WWI they started making spring motor gramophones. They moved from the UK to Brazil in the late 70's and went into decline and tried to get into the video business but went under in '92. Someone else uses the name Garrard for their audio company now but it has nothing to do with the old company.
