It is rather fluid at the moment, and I do have a habit of trying too hard sometimes. Ask the missus. We'll see how the swap requests pan out.

If we get a swap with a large enough house in the PNW perhaps you could come and stay with us straight after the festival, and then we can go out to Yellowstone etc in the latter part of the trip. There was one house on Bainbridge Island that had a guest apartment downstairs..... Let's just say you plan the trip so it suits you, and we'll get there if we can... chances of that are pretty good right now.

Yep, where I grew up there are 4 types of boats; Outboard, Inboard, Inboard-Outboard and even Outboard-Inboard (that is kickin it ol skool!). Sailing and golfing are for rich folk.

hobiejoe wrote: Excellent! I couldn't remember how to start a new thread. We're tentatively looking at a house swap for three weeks, probably coming home Aug 4th. During that time we aim to do a road trip to Montana/Wyoming as long as we can find a swap with a car that they don't mind us driving all that way. Won't be able to get there in time for the Folk Festival sadly. MrsHJ has made some enquiries in the Bainbridge Island area near Seattle so we'll see how they go first.

I wouldn't worry too much Scott, we won't get to this part of the world often so we'll be happy to travel assuming we can pick up something in the NW of the US. It can't be earlier than 14th July for us to travel though as we can't spring the kids from school any earlier than that (that's a week early). I'd rather go to the mountains, Andy would rather go to the coast so we'll see what happens.
Logisticswise, as you know flights, are not cheap so doing a house and car swap for say 3 weeks saves us a couple of thousand and makes the numbers work ergo we are focussing on bolting down a nice swap location where we'll enjoy our holiday with the plan that we'll travel from there and see you and the pnws and some family and friends we have north of the border.
ps pursuade Andy we REALLY want to go to Southern Montana!

ScottFromWyoming wrote:I do think someone should start a thread for a PNW or Wherever meetup. Not too early to start planning. If it's later July PNW that will work great for us... as far as we can see right now, that is. If we can tack it onto a trip that starts with the Montana Folk Festival July 13-14-15 we can go to that, drive a long day and be in Seattle. If it's later, very end of July or August, we'd have to make 2 separate trips but you gotta do what you gotta do. If the hobiejoes want to make it a Montana meetup, well Justine and the kids have never been to Glacier N.P. and of course Yellowstone is pretty close to Montana so we could try that again
