It was a day much like today
the sky was bright, and wide, and blue And I wonder where you are
And if the pain ends when you die
And I wonder if there was
Some better way to say goodbye Today my heart is big and sore
it's tryin' to push right through my skin
I won't see you anymore
I guess that's finally sinkin' in
'Cause you can't make somebody see
By the simple words you say
All their beauty from within
Sometimes they just look away But I wonder where you are
And if the pain ends when you die
And I wonder if there was
Some better way to say goodbye

Thank you, Judi. It's just heartbreaking.

Comment on Johhny Cash's I'm Leaving Now

Cynaera wrote:
I'm sitting here, trying to give good tax advice to a guy who lives in another state and whose divorce isn't yet final. And this song comes on, and I can't even focus on what I'm trying to impart to my friend. Darn you, Johnny Cash. I love you to death... (And why'd you leave us so soon? Maybe you felt that your work on earth was done, but I feel like the world could still use your perception and your history...)

Speaking of honoring departed souls...

I submitted "Spindrifter" to the LRC - The late, lamented Nicky Hopkins, with the rest of QMS. It's a very melodic piano piece, and it just makes me realize that the only way we can honor these departed souls is by listening to the musical legacy they left behind.  This is one song I really hope Bill and Rebecca will choose to include in the library. It's simple, but it speaks so eloquently of hope, dreams, and love...

I'm not an old white guy, but I love this song. Whatever comparisons are made, I don't care. I just love the Allman Brothers, and this is an amazing jam.  I can close my eyes and be anywhere - driving down a long stretch of two-lane highway with no cars and only the sunrise in my eyes. I can be at the top of a mountain, with the clouds below me and the snow brushing my face.  I can be on a sandy beach with white sand, sunshine, and the sound of a ukelele in the distance.  I can be anywhere, doing anything.  This song takes me to those places.  The Allman Brothers' music always does that to me.

Okay - you drink your white chai tea or sniff your glue or whatever else you might do to get inspired. I listen to the music of RadioParadise, and it keeps me alive and motivates me and inspires me. I love RP.

Shutting up now.

Well, it's now October of 2011, and this song still gives me chills. It'd be a great background song for a Halloween party, because it's so creepy.  I love it, though - listening to it is like watching a horror movie from behind one's hands, but spreading the fingers just a little to see the skeery parts...

It is amazing (I knew her only slightly) that Cynaera is still news, but it was her eloquence that keeps her current..  This wonderful person posted some of the most thoughtful song comments.  Ever.

Would have loved to have met her in the flesh.  She was on our list.

Seeing her wishes she expressed to Jade makes this thread all the more special.

Hi, Jade - I haven't been at RP much these days, but I wanted to tell you (very belatedly) that your post regarding the passing of your sister had me in tears. Losing a loved one is never easy, but your viewpoint, and the way you and your family handled that loss, is beautiful, dignified, and makes perfect sense to me.  When I die, I don't want tears and grief. I want people to remember the funny, silly, good things about me and the life I've lived, and I want them to rejoice that I was part of their lives.

You just taught me that, and I thank you for the quiet wisdom.  I hope I can carry it in my heart and soul until I'm no longer on this earth.

May you and your entire family have peace.

Hugs and condolences,

Cynaera (AKA:   Ann)

So weird - I was hearing this song in my dreams last night - I'd wake up, then go back to sleep and there it'd be again. Life can be so inexplicable, and throwing dreams into the mix only makes it more difficult to fathom. All I can say is that this song better not be in my dreams tonight, because I'm hoping for a steamy session with Johnny Depp. {#Lol}

Kurt, you are my hero!!!  Joe Walsh has always followed his own path, (and to acknowledge another poster who wrote that he never had to join Eagles, with which I totally agree) and I love his work. I'd be so jazzed to hear "Time Out" or "All-Night-Laundry-Mat-Blues."  I think "Rocky Mountain Way" was the first thing that made me shut down the outside world and tune in to the music. (My personal favorite, though, is "Happy Ways." Something about it just makes me grin.)

Going away now.

"Happy Ways' is classic nobody plays.

I uploaded years ago.
Alas, it won't get played here either.
