No, I almost never go to movies anymore.  It seems like a baseball game is about the only thing longer than half an hour I still have the attention span for.

I inherited this picture of my great, great, great uncle Richard Rockingham from my mom. Who got it from her mother.

Ever since I was a little tike, I heard the stories about him. He was from England and he fought in the Civil War. He advanced in rank very quickly, and was well liked among the men that served under him. He was wounded during battle. Then was killed in a field hospital that was shelled by the Rebels.

There's quite a write up on him in this well documented book.  And somehow the author got a hold of my mom for that picture. It's featured in the book.

That's what got my mom. And she never smoked.
She got ovarian cancer. Beat it for 8 years. It traveled through her body and landed in her lungs.
It was really tough the last few months for her. We had to drain her lungs every 3-4 days.
At least she got to be at her home.

I sometimes marvel at what truly world class procrastinators seem to run in my family.  My mother was born in 1919. My other great grandfather (the pregnant lady's dad) fought for Mr. Lincoln  during the rebellion. I'm 60 and my nieces and nephews are in their late teens and early 20s.  I've obviously out procrastinating them all but I feel like we're being generationally lapped by everyone around us.

My Mom was really into our family history and traced us back to 1515 on her side. She left me all the stuff she found and hundreds of family photos. Here are some of the oldest I know of.

This is the ol' homestead and great grandparents etc that was built early 1800's in Indiana. I remember seeing what was left of it as a kid before it burned down around '69. This copy of the original photo was labeled as from around 1880.

This guy was Nathaniel 1789 to 1878, a great, great, great Granddad...

Great photo. To have one with a large group of the family together is awesome.
And I would make sure you have it labeled so later family members know who they are.
Yes. You need to get that copied so you can pass it on before it falls apart.

It is my aunt's picture and oddly enough when I made my cousin drag it out so I could snap a picture of it we sat around trying to do just that.  There were actually a couple that even Hazel was not too sure of even though she was there.  In fairness to the old girl her eyes aren't what they used to be and it was a long time ago.   Some of them are pretty easy though.  I certainly didn't need to be told the little girl front and center was Aunt Betty.  I've talked to my cousin since and she said they think they have it figured out now.
