NC lawmaker calls Abraham Lincoln a ‘tyrant’ like Hitler A day after setting off one firestorm, a Cabarrus County lawmaker set off another Wednesday by calling Abraham Lincoln “the same sort (of) tyrant” as Adolf Hitler. Republican Rep. Larry Pittman of Cabarrus County made the comparison in a Facebook post in response to a comment criticizing a bill he’d introduced that would nullify the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage in North Carolina. In his post, Pittman said North Carolina should uphold traditional marriage “in spite of the opinion of a federal court.” “And if Hitler had won, should the world just get over it?” he wrote. “Lincoln was the same sort if (sic) tyrant, and personally responsible for the deaths of over 800,000 Americans in a war that was unnecessary and unconstitutional.”...
If you're a republican candidate for president, it has now become necessary to out Trump the Trump if you're gonna get noticed.
For example: It's not enough to say you don't like the pending P5+1 deal with Iran. No, you have to compare Obama to Hitler - or Iran to the Nazis and Obama to Neville Chamberlain, and declare that the deal is just like pushing jews into the ovens at Auschwitz.
But in the age of Reality TV, even a gas chamber reference isn't enough for Mike Huckabee to trump the Trump.
So today at two separate campaign stops Huckabee indicated that if elected he wouldn't rule out using federal troops or the FBI against American citizens to stop abortion.
Yes, that's correct: Mike Huckabee said that he would not rule out using federal troops to end abortion in the United States.
At the first campaign stop at the Pizza Ranch in Jefferson, Iowa, Huckabee said he would “invoke the 5th and 14th Amendments for the protection of every human being."
"Would that be a huge controversy?" He asked his audience. And then answered himself (or the voices in his head, take your pick), "Yes.”
Yes.
There's this election season's understatement.
“I will not pretend there is nothing we can do to stop this," he said at the same event without elaborating on exactly what he meant - and if you're picturing the screaming paranoid outrage if Obama had said something as vaguely ominous, well, you ain't seen nothing yet.
At his next campaign stop in Rockwell City, Huckabee was asked by a reporter to clarify his comments.
Huckabee answered, “All American citizens should be protected.”
So another reporter immediately asked HOW exactly President Huckabee would stop abortion and if he meant that he would use the FBI or federal forces to accomplish this.
And Huckabee replied: “We’ll see, if I get to be president.”
Would you use federal forces against Americans to stop abortion? We'll see.
We'll see.
Let that sink for a few minutes.
Huckabee went on to say he would use all resources available to protect U.S. citizens specifically in reference to abortion.
Now I honestly doubt Mike Huckabee would really be so goddamned stupid as to actually think he could order US troops to, I dunno, shoot down pregnant women to prevent them from getting an abortion - let alone actually attempt to give such an order. The guy is a religious nut but he's not insane ... okay, I read that out loud and it sounds way more wrong than it did in my head. Never mind. I think he's just pandering to the religious fanatics in his base who WOULD happily use the military to turn America into an Iranian style theocracy if they could. But, seriously, can you imagine? Can you? If Obama had said that. If Obama refused to categorically rule out using federal forces or federal police against US citizens? I mean, look at the Jade Helm bullshit and tell me if you can imagine the ensuing riot of gunfire and Confederate flag waving lunacy.
Ironic, isn't it? Huckabee essentially calls President Obama a Nazi appeaser and explicitly declares we're helping herd the Israelis "into the ovens" (a comment even the Israelis found offensive and wrong) and a week later here Huckabee is talking about using federal forces against Americans who don't share his religious views.
I think Mike Huckabee might be confused as to who the fascist is.
I expect tomorrow Huckabee will be juggling and backpedalling like a coked up circus bear on a unicycle. And at the moment, Damage Control Central, Huckabee HQ, is either bailing water in full on panic mode ... or they all just quit and went to Atlantic City to look for jobs with Trump Enterprises.
Donald Trump, the guy is a barking lunatic, but he's damned useful for flushing out Republican psychosis.
If I didn't know better, I'd have to wonder if Trump wasn't an undercover Democrat.
Looks like an example of facetious sarcasm - from about 5 years ago. "Johnson’s office said the boss is simply a tremendous deadpan — and that he was using a facetious metaphor. But the admiral didn’t know that, and played it straight" Maybe he should have smiled.
Luckily, our Wyoming Rep is smart enough to not open her mouth ever except when she's asking for money/votes. I almost never see her in the news. Useless.
The thing I was most struck by when I watched his snowball speech (okay, the Homer Simpson one) was what a lousy delivery the guy has. Both in speaking and throwing. If you're going to do something that ridiculous, you gotta own it. Ted Cruz would've at least sold that speech, but Inhofe sounded like he was just now thinking of what to say and also why is there snow in my hand?
Because how in the hell can a person get elected if they can't give a speech any better than that?

He's a state senator, all he can do is ask (a nod to his base, more than any real desire to have it done) for the feds to do anything. One asshat does not a government-wide conspiracy make. What I don't get is why anyone be a supporter of a "movement" that was the brainchild of multibillionaires (Koch Bro's) who would just as soon see all of us crushed into dust. Anyone who votes for a Tea Party candidate is a person voting against their own best interest.
And speaking of asshats ... NY Sen Schumer has requested more IRS action against the Tea Party saying the IRS has not done enough to them.
