I have Octoshape installed, and it's in my menu bar.  (mac, OS 10.5.8)

When I click on play, it goes online to a page, with a list of stations.

I click on Radio Paradise, and it takes me to the RP home page.  (It used to launch iTunes and begin the stream)

If I click on the Octoshape link on the Listen page, nothing at all happens.

...

Is there not some simple explanation for how to listen to RP via Octoshape?  I don't know what the whole Foobar explanation is about. It can not possibly be as complicated as this tread makes it sound.  Is it?

Hello,

I've installed the Octoshape client on my iMac (Snow Leopard v10.6.2) and when I click on the Octoshape stream link, it asks for an associated program.  When I look in Applications, Octoshape is not there.

How do I associate the Octoshape stream with the Octoshape client and/or with iTunes?  Oh, I have emailed the good folks at Octoshape several days ago, and I have not heard back (yet).

TIA

Neil

A-okay here this morning, too. Thanks, Bill, for all you do. Have a great day, RP'ers.

We're now on the new encoder. That should take care of the problems.

About 8 hours before this changeover, I had set up to rip thirty or so hours of RP to listen in my car, so I have now listened to eight hours of the intermittently sputtering encoder, and now that I have listened to a couple of hours of the new one on the "Unknown Server" I can say confidently "That DID take care of the problems!

You can email those to me. I'll see what I can do about getting the file-checking script to be a little less finicky.

Your upload doesn't appear to be an MP3 file. Double-check the file name as it needs to end in ".mp3".

However the file is definitely an mp3 file and it ends in .mp3

No not iTunes, I did buy the tunes from an online music seller - 7digital.com. They seem to be high quality digital files. I used that company before and never had a problem.

No, it's not VBR. It has a bit rate of 320 with an audio sample rate of 44 kHz.

Clicking the link on the home page... does nothing?  Did it launch something in iTunes?  What is supposed to happen?

It's working for me... (wonderfully, I might add) I just am lobbying to have it explained better.  And if I know, I could answer folks in the forums who ask.

{#Sunny}

With Windows XP I needed first to install the Octoshape Client.  I have then set it to use my default player (Foobar2000) and not to run on computer start up.  I have then created a desktop shortcut with the location URL "octoshape:PARADISE.stream1_mp3" .

On my system this starts up Octoshape, then starts up Foobar2000 and then plays the RP stream.  Song title and artist displayed.

I used to not bother with Octoshape as it was such a faf to open up Octoshape, wait for my browser to open and display the choice of feeds and start playing.

I was disappointed not to be able to google a straight forward solution so now I have found one I have put it here:
http://blog1.dhsound.co.uk/blog/_archives/2009/11/2/4369343.html and google has indeed found it.

This one click solution is great and sounds fine too.  Does it save Bill any money?  I don't know but I hope so.
