I run my diffuser about 8 hours a day. I love it but I don't think it's helping with my memory problems.
They talk about changing up the smells pretty frequently.
Also, since there's no "you" that's not doing the diffuser, maybe it's preventing? Hard to know.
Results: A statistically significant 226% improvement was observed in the enriched group compared to the control group on the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test and improved functioning was observed in the left uncinate fasciculus, as assessed by mean diffusivity.
Conclusion: Minimal olfactory enrichment administered at night produces improvements in both cognitive and neural functioning. Thus, olfactory enrichment may provide an effective and low-effort pathway to improved brain health.

When a fragrance wafted through the bedrooms of older adults for two hours every night for six months, memories skyrocketed. In fact, participants in this study by neuroscientists from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), reaped a 226% increase in cognitive capacity compared to the control group. The researchers say the finding transforms the long-known tie between smell and memory into an easy, non-invasive technique for strengthening memory and potentially deterring dementia.

"The group, which incorporated in Delaware, where it is not required to name the people behind the business, has been the subject of speculation and even a possible government probe. Starting in 2018, Flannery began purchasing parcels of land from Fairfield to Rio Vista. (One of its first purchases was near Flannery Road in Rio Vista, possibly giving the group its name.) By its own admission, Flannery paid over the market rate to acquire that land, but in the years since, nothing has been developed on it. The group is now the largest landowner in the county."
GEEZ. how much longer are you there? i agree with coaxial. you need a discount after all you've put up with (the non-clean space originally, the smoke detector noise for days, now this...) i'd not feel safe, either.
Turns out it was the daughterâs ex-husband leaving all her stuff in our area (not blocking us). OK, fine. Weâre in no danger.
That was last night. Now itâs 11p. Itâs still there. And here come the thunderstormsâ¦.
Now, right next to this are some short stairs that leads to a covered back porch where this could fit. We could probably move it up there but 1) no one asked us to and itâs not our stuff and 2) we really are kinda busy doing other things like visiting our kid and our grandkid. Daughter in law has some finals coming up so we came to take the pressure off her, and see our fantastically cute 3 yo grandson who totally digs me.
Today I made a dancing rainbow out of pipe cleaners and played âSheâs a Rainbowâ and it rested during the piano parts but danced around during the singing. I got many requests to do that again. Lunchtime strawberries produced âStrawberry Fieldsâ as a soundtrack. And, when he started chanting LETâS GO LETâS GO when we were stuck in traffic, it turns out he loves âJuniorâs Farmâ just like I do. âLetâs GO letâs GO! Down to juniorâs farmâ¦â (The Cars âLetâs Goâ wasnât as big a hit. Shouldâve played himthe New Cars version.)
Weâre hanging at an AirBnb in Pittsburgh ATM. We had to listen to the quiet chirp of a low battery smoke detector for 4 days until the owner gave me the garage code so I could find it. She didnât even know it was there. It was so old it didnât have replaceable batteries. Couldnât get it to stop, so I ripped the speaker out of it. Whew. Finally some quiet.
Then, last night we went out to dinner for about an hour and come home to find a pickup in the driveway and a car parked in front. Hmm. I circle the block and as we return they take off like bats out of hell. In the driveway adjacent to the garage door is a huge pile of stuff. Not thrown there, but set. But there are trash bags, bedding, and pictures/mirrors (not damaged). Itâs purposeful. And I can hear the chirp of a low battery smoke detector in the pile.
So I contact the landlady and she phones. Has no idea whatâs up. Now Iâm worried about our safety. Then she remembers her daughterâs going through a divorce⦠She calls me back later and says that the soon-to-be-ex-husband has dumped her stuff off.
And, today, it looks like rain in the next few hoursâ¦
