Several months ago, Adam Winter of Saginaw, Mich., grew more and more angry. He is a man who has two loves — pro football and animals — and as the Detroit Lions continued to lose games, Winter became increasingly upset that the magnificent lion should be associated with such a woebegone franchise.

When Detroit — that is, the Lions — finished this past season without a victory, Winter prevailed on his state senator to introduce a bill in the Michigan Legislature that would ban the Detroit franchise from exploiting the nickname of the lion. The rationale: It's unfair to insult a proud beast that is unable to defend its own good name.

I apologize for my chronic dishonesty and utter lack of integrity that have been on display on this forum for the past 5 years. I apologize for repeatedly twisting the words of other posters into pretzels so that I may inflame them by distorting their views, thereby advancing my goal of single-handedly destroying any hope for reasonable and reasoned discourse. I apologize for my well-known ploy of asking questions of other posters that clearly are irrelevant in a transparent attempt to divert the discussion and infuriate the well-intentioned, thereby assuring that the discussion will end in a train wreck. I apologize for my penchant for flying off the handle at even the slightest, perceived provocation and resorting to personal attacks and the flinging of epithets as a means of exacting revenge for current or prior transgressions committed against me. Most of all, I apologize for failing to see the need for me to apologize before today for all this mayhem and disharmony I have created.
