It’s easy to find movies to download or stream, but if you’re flying straight and narrow or want to support and watch films that are free, public domain, or whose creators want them free and openly shared, here are some great sites to bookmark—and visit when you want something new to watch.
I finally saw The Big Short. I like the way it was done with actors talking to the camera every now and then. Nice touch. Christian Bale never ceases to amaze me in the variety of characters he can "become."
And....I am supremely happy I belong to a credit union instead of a big bank.
Unless it is Bank of America, they have been sued so much that everything is free!
They used to be called Ameribank-also known as the folks who brought you "to big to fail" and not a word was said. That was back in the '80's.I was like "PEOPLE!! Wake up!" It was followed by the usual ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.

I watched that recently and its really well done. Another movie like that worth watching is "The Wrecking Crew"
And yet another doc in the same vein is Sound City, just watched that one again yesterday. I have seen all of those recording studio docs and they are great!

Watched this last night on Netflix and it was superb!
Located on the banks of the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama is the unlikely breeding ground for some of the most creative and defiant music in American history. Under the spiritual influence of the "Singing River" as Native Americans called it, the music of Muscle Shoals is some of the most important and resonant of all time. "I'll Take You There", "Brown Sugar", "When a Man Loves a Woman", "I Never Loved A Man the Way That I Loved You", "Mustang Sally", "Tell Mama", "Kodachrome", and "Freebird" are just a few of the tens of thousands of tracks created there.
At its heart is Rick Hall who founded FAME Studios. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, he brought black and white musicians together to create music that would last for generations while also giving birth to the unique 'Muscle Shoals sound' and the rhythm section 'The Swampers'.
In this movie legendary artists including Aretha Franklin, Greg Allman, Bono, Clarence Carter, Jimmy Cliff, Mick Jagger, Etta James, Alicia Keys, Wilson Pickett, Keith Richards, Percy Sledge, Steve Winwood and others bear witness to the magnetism and mystery of Muscle Shoals and why it remains a global influence today.

Brighton Rock - Not as good as the 1947 version with Richard CAttenborough but still pretty good. Based on the Graham Greene novel based on the same gang the BBC series "Peaky Blinders" is based on.

Has anyone seen "Rock the Kasbah" with Bill Murray? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3164256/) I had never even heard of it when it popped up on my recommended list. It looks promising, but is still an expensive rental.
Save your cash. I love Bill Murray, but this was shockingly bad. A real mess, imo.
I've never heard of it, and I'm pretty sure it has never played in the theaters here. I figured, since it apparently didn't see wide release it might be on Netflix or Amazon Prime, but it's not. Both Amazon and iTunes/Apple TV will rent it for $5.99, which as you say, is pretty expensive.
You could wait a month or two and see if it does make it to Netflix.
It was on Amazon streaming last night, but it was $15.99. Which seems crazy high for a rental. I've seen this with a few other movies, where either it's purchase only, or the rate is high. It usually drops in a few weeks. The preview looks interesting, but the reviews are awful.

I got to see a free screening of the new Cohen Brothers movie, "Hail Caesar!" last night.
Lots of laugh-out-loud moments for sure...in a great little plot about old Hollywood stars, with the usual delightful cast—and some new and promising young stars (Alden Ehrenreich, who looks like he could be DiCaprio progeny but isn't).
