I find that a pretty appealing thought actually.  I really enjoyed solo living but people vary a lot and maybe I have just TOO much company these days to appreciate it.  Small kids seem to fill up the space very easily.

Tried the "face your fears" thing with birds.  I know someone that has several grey parrots.  Love them as long as they are in the cage but when she let them out I was terrified, couldn't wait to get out.

She has giant noisy birds all over her house! Cockatiels? Gotta say, they scare me a little too, they can bite your nose off in a sec, and they're really smart

Birds.

Not when they are flying around outside or anything but touching them or picking them up.

Also I can't take domesticated birds flying around a closed space I am also in.

I can remember when I was abut 5 running to my Mom crying because pigeons were "coming after me".  What a wimp.

I have a girlfriend like that.  The sound of birds wings — like sparrows at our birdfeeder — terrifies her.
