fuzzy wrote: Really? That's weird if it never got reviewed. I thought that with less than 2 or 3 minutes in the game (or each half?), coaches could not throw the flag, but that any play that was iffy could be reviewed upstairs (ie: NFL decides, not coaches or refs), and that last play certainly was iffy. Definitely should have been reviewed AND overruled. What a mess the NFL is in right now.
I think it was reviewed in the booth, but they determined there wasn't conclusive evidence to overturn the original TD call. That's their story and they're sticking to it.
I thought the on-the-field interview with the Seahawks receiver after the game was funny. He was asked if he pushed off the defender to make the catch (it was blatant interference) and he said "I have no idea what you're talking about." That's his story and he's sticking to it.
Like you say, what a mess!

fuzzy wrote: Exactly. Even the real refs get overruled sometimes. Don't know why everyone is putting this particular bad call squarely on the replacement refs when it wasn't even overruled upstairs. Unless, of course, the "upstairs" folks are also replacements?
The way I understand it once the touchdown was signaled there was no recourse. It couldn't be overruled by rule. The other ref was signaling touchback...

I watched the replay this morning. The one ref didn't throw his arms up until he saw the other ref do so.
