Got some vegemite last weekend at Pete's Frootique. Tried it this morning. Doesn't taste great but doesn't taste that bad. I kinda like it, actually. But you're right about using a thin spread.

I can see myself acquiring the taste. Next step: toast with vegemite AND cheese.

i went through a huge exploratory hummus phase

kinda still there

wore out a food processor or two

i got to the point where i'd just get a handful of garlic and toss it in (always the first step for me)

whizz

then herbage if it was to be included (i love cilantro, stems and all)

whizz

peas or beans, peanut butter or tahini, roasted veggies or peppers, salt and pepper to taste, spices, juice a lime or lemon, olive oil and a surprise ingredient/variable (maybe nuts)

let that fly for a minute or until desired texture

grab some celery, carrots, cukes, squash, pita, whatever and dip and slather to your heart's content

enjoy!   {#Hungry}
edit:

i tried quite a few animal proteins, tuna came the closet  {#Sick}, but it just never clicked

however, i've made a nice turkey sandwich and put hummus on that and it was delicious

Vegemite is now a regular part of my breakfast. With peanut butter on toast.

Still planning on trying marmite.

I might even try vegemite and PB. Let the two fight it out for their flavour to break through.

Deal!

Since you are such a good bloke, I'll give you a tip: use a really really thin spread of Vegemite. You don't want to slather it on. Trust me.

That should be 2 billion beef cubes.
also a pinch of cumin.
I used to be married to a Mexamerican girl. It's a long story but cumin is important I learned...

Sounds like a plan. But isn't adding salt gonna ruin it?

Well, that's not gonna work. The same product on Amazon.ca is $120CAD (including shipping), but it is a 3-pack. So that makes it $40 a jar.

Then they have another one but it's 90 small 4.8g packages. For $23CAD plus $56.93CAD for shipping from Australia.

And if you're not careful searching Amazon for vegemite, you might end up here. {#Naughty}

I'll have to check in the city next time i'm there.
