My (new) Sony NAS HDD drive (with about 250 CD's, and space for another 1000 hours of music left) managed to come up with this playlist:
The Associates - Boys Keep Swinging Midge Ure - The Man Who Sold The World Divine Comedy - Life On Mars Ian McCulloch - The Prettiest Star
...and I am a big Bowie fan, yet there's only 2 cover CD's so far on the HDD...
And, while I posted this BillG is playing the original Life On Mars... Anyone saw the TV series? Or it's follow up "Ashes To Ashes"?

OH...I got the best one. A few years ago, my bandmate was giving me a ride home and we saw this sweet old red Cadillac convertible ahead of us on the freeway. We caught up a bit to check it out as we got on the offramp. I thought the hair on the driver was familiar (from the back). "Ethan, that guys hair reminds me of....ummm..what is that actor??" "Gary Busey" "YEAH, Gary Busey!" As we turned right onto the next street we were able to pass the Caddy.. I looked back AND IT WAS GARY BUSEY!! "Holy crap, it IS Gary BUSEY!" We were laughing so hard..... The weird thing is, Ethan was playing a Buddy Holly CD in his car... (Gary Busey played BH in the Buddy Holly Story) We got a conformation from The Stranger (the local alt paper) that there were other sighted of GB, so we knew we weren't crazy. FROM THE STRANGER "Celebrity I Saw You": "Adrian, I think I saw Gary Busey at the corner of Olive and Denny last night. He was driving in a beautiful red '70s Cadillac convertible, speaking on a cell phone, wildly shaking his head."-Cheers, Harrison Dear Harrison: In case of Gary Busey sighting, remember: KEEP CALM. Maintain eye contact and back away slowly. Head to the nearest safe house and contact authorities. In case of attack: feign dead.

Today I was driving in the car listening to Jack FM, one of the few stations I can get in my little clown car, and "1985" by Bowling For Soup came on. Def Leppard's "Rocket" came on right after that. I know "Rocket" was from 1987, but still, it seemed a little odd to me.

I have a 200-CD changer. If it ever breaks down (knock on wood) I will go for one of those digital centres, because I don't think it is the technique of the future. However, this time I have put my whole Depeche Mode collection in there, that's 19 CD's + all compilations that have one or more DM songs. Still, I would say a 1 in 10 chance of hearing a DM song. This morning it put 4 in a row though, and I think that's statistically weird!

Last week RP played "Rockaway Beach" by the Ramones and I was thinking about how I have never been there, and how strange that was, and how I should go just because of the song. Less than 10 seconds after the song ended, or right before the song ended, my friend sent me an e-mail asking me to to to Rockaway beach. We went!!!!! It was cool!
