How The U.S. Trained Killer Cops Across The Hemisphere
U.S. training of law enforcement in Latin America stretches back to 1898, and researcher Jeremy Kuzmarov notes that its early history is instructive. As early as 1905, Secretary of State Elihu Root wrote that countries engaged in trade with the US needed forces that could “repress subversive disorder and preserve the public peace.” In 1917, Gen. Smedley D. Butler trained a police force in U.S.-occupied Haiti in order to protect American business interests there, notorious for its violence. In 1929, Butler wore his military uniform when he was sworn in to serve as the police chief of Philadelphia. Using what he had learned in Haiti, he rapidly modernized and reorganized the local police. One citizen, likely missing the irony, complained that Butler used “military tactics which might do in Mexico and other places… (but) has no place in the administration of civil affairs.” He was quickly replaced as police chief, but many of his technological modernizations stuck over time.

If you are incapable of distinguishing the difference between objections against police brutality, as opposed to hatred of police, you should probably not be participating in this thread.

Police reform like the Democrats are proposing is an overall good idea whether it works or not.  Firstly the vicious cycle of cop, minority and low income citizens of violence has to stop and the relationship between law enforcement and these impacted people must be healed and functional.  As I said before if it does work great, less violence, less prisoners, less animosity hopefully less crime.  A society where we can feel safe in these areas and the locals will not feel persecuted and target by the po po.  If they have the balance off and the local law abiding citizens feel the full brunt of human nature fueled by desperation and sometimes evil, a newfound empathy will be born for the officers who face perpetual violence, scorn and derision from the perpetrators and many of the citizens in their precincts.  Silver lining.  Gun control has gone the way of anti war demonstrations,  pay phones and fear of covid.

Nope.  My understanding based upon listening to Biden and others is that if we solve global warming, this will all go away.  Climate change is the root cause of racism and until we solve it, racism will persist.

But then we have Sen Kaine of Va who says that the US invented slavery ...

"... The United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it.” In 1619 ...

Wasn't Britain running this place until 1776 ?

And that was before climate change.  I'm so confused.

Since climate change ain't gonna be solved anytime soon, even democrats can't solve this problem.  They are liars if they say they can, using their own definitions ...

And just who is running these cities that we have all these problems with their police departments ?

Yeah, guns.  Less cops = More guns.  Seems counter productive, but what do I know ?

Check please ... my ride's here ...

Quick thought that should not be lost.  Law enforcement is just that the enforcement wing of our government.   If and when Democrats take charge of the White House, congress and the senate, just who will be enforcing the laws and legislation they put forth?  Talk about an awkward boss/employee relationship.
