I understand your point and "no" is the correct answer but The Coming Storm by Michael Lewis (only on Audible) is wrapped around a fascinating and somewhat inspiring refutation of the myth that weather reporters are not accurate very often.

Apparently 5-Day forecasts are  90% accurate.  Longer projections decrease in accuracy obviously.

I reckon that weather forecasts are far more accurate than they they were half a century ago.  I view forecasts as valuable 3 days out.  Which is pretty amazing giving the forecasting environment.

As for sensational reporting designed to scare people....  that is what the market wants.   They sure as shit do not want some God damn reporter explaining to them 'convection air movements'.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning make weather forecasting much more accurate than ever.  Not perfect, but better.

People are still needed to make assessments, since "history is not a guarantee of future results".    The predictive models help, but they still require "humans in the loop".

Weather reporters generally have a very easy job, forecasting weather. They're wrong half of the time & it doesn't affect their job. But they pay dearly when their employer sends them out to do a live report in the middle of a hurricane. Is that necessary?

This pretty much describes what going on around here...

With the dew points near 80 degrees... I'd say we're more humid than Florida.

So all Summer long and no rain. I head to the mountains of NH and it’s raining and will be again tomorrow.

Not that I mind getting some rain cause we need it, but not on my vacation.
