Into a clear lake, no one around
Just dragonflies flying to the side
No one gets hurt, you've done nothing wrong
Slide your hand, jump off the end
The water's clear and innocent, the water's clear and innocent
Hence this special number.
..^this!..i thought RP might've found a KGB version with lyrics for a micro-sec..
interesting. This time it segued from Radiohead to KGB.
I think this pretty much says it.
Into a clear lake, no one around
Just dragonflies flying to the side
No one gets hurt, you've done nothing wrong
Slide your hand, jump off the end
The water's clear and innocent, the water's clear and innocent
That said, for my money on the recent albums Thom Yorke is doing more singing than whining and there is an actual melody once in a while —- like here.
I will never forgive them for Creep, though.
I think it's about Thom longing to do a, forbidden, "bomb" at his local swimming pool. Obviously that's not allowed so Thom fantasises about a deserted lake "no one around...no one gets hurt / you've done nothing wrong""
"Slide your hand" is a reference to the physical tuck required for an effective bomb.
The real giveaway is the title "Codex" - surely this is reference to the list of rules of acceptable behaviour.
code, codex - Code, from Latin codex, meaning "block of wood split into tablets, document written on wood tablets," was first a set of laws.
I'm with you, Jake. So obvious...who would think Radiohead would do a song about such a dark subject as suicide, anyway? Just a bunch of happy guys trying to lighten the mood is all.I don't think anyone is with you.
(I have to say, the witty banter is fantastic.)

Because it's not fun?
Someone needs some Taylor Swift. Now that's fun!
Because it's not fun?
It can be healing, to feel it.
To me, this is just beautiful and calming. I don't get depressed listening to it. Opposite actually.
What's wrong with being depressive?

What's wrong with being depressive?
when I'm really down this "depressive" music brings me way back up
Second that (today as well)!
To me this is not depressive. Whats wrong with me?

If you don't like something you hear on this incredibly eclectic radio station, YOU have the power. Listen to some other station. It's that easy.
Maybe it's you and not most of everyone else?

Perhaps not a troll as such...
What you said. It feels sparse and lean, too - very simple. Like a grove of aspen trees.
Really hope you're a troll.....
Sublime.

Every day is fine for me.
Bloody brilliant.
To me this is not depressive. Whats wrong with me?

I think it might be just you - to me it sounds like a song about a painless suicide. Mind you, most of Radiohead's songs sound like that to me.
I think I'm being assimilated by Thom Yorke - from wanting to slap him round the chops with a wet fish, I now find myself almost liking his songs. I think it must be some kind of subminal hypnotics weaved into the instrumentals...
He's trying to get into your Y-fronts, mate!
Please please some new artists and Songs please....
I too have found that RP has an endless list of artists that they play. I listen every day. Wonderful stuff. Thanks, RP
yeah!
I absolve thee of thy sin.
No its not, join the other one in your room

painful.
No its not now go to your room
You must not listen to RP enough - those are definitely played.
Any RadioHead is overplay.

Sophisticated music is often for soulless snobs - rock 'n' roll was created for teenagers. This song is pretty good, but there is very little which is "sophisticated" about it.

Now, using common sense and critical sense, I must also say, that after a certain point, I began to notice a significant change in the work done so far by this group. More precisely, from 2008, or the album In Rainbows.
In this album there have been early signs of rupture and dissection of ideas, but still agree on the whole album as a work of undeniable quality, but far away, I must say, the work most inspiring and sounds of this band.
My fears were confirmed in King of Limbs (2011).
Are unrecognized, boring, monotonous, unstructured, ridiculously songs, a set of rhythmic exercise, dull, percussion boxes wandering, finally, as a "stretch cord" which is worth for than competence and skill as performers of their instruments, but without inspiration, without claw, without conviction. And the result is little more than disappointing, without offering anything new.
If they continue down this path, it is already a decline, a downside of this band.
If this band had appeared, the first time in 2011 with "The King of Limbs". I think that would be rejected by the sieve "Listener Review Channel" and none of the songs in airplay.
But as the proverb says, "Create fame and lie down to sleep"
We shall see.
This is too absolutist for me. I tend to judge songs, bands and albums both in historical context and individually. Not that I am "right" by doing so, but I'm equally intrigued by where a band goes in comparison to where they have been. Having said that, I find myself liking Radiohead's music more and more.

Kid A is great album...maybe it has not been uploaded by anyone?

I love ALL of those artists.

That would be, "no". Nowhere. At all.
Somebody needs to tell Thom Yorke there's a difference between exploring angst and depression, and making me want to down a bottle of clonipin with a Wild Turkey chaser.

I always thought it was about skinny dipping....
Radiohead is one of the few bands that I hate almost everything they do and would never have any of their music; really painful music, especially Yorke's painful rectal itch of a voice.
And Bill? Right after Supertramp? RP segue FAIL.

We be slow-dancing to this spooky song... love it...
Everybody in my church loves this spooky song...

I might be wrong. But still, I think I will go with the more "uplifting" interpretation.
THAT'S the word I was searching for - spooky. Thanks, Romeotuma. I love it, too, because of the melancholy, haunting quality of the music. One more for my CD collection...
Miss you so much, Cynaera...
love this spooky song... this is a marvelous album...

Interesting lyrics. Maybe it is just me, but is it about masturbation?
I thinks it's just you. if it was about masturbation the water would be neither clear nor innocent...
