Well, she only turned and smiled
You might think she would say something
But you'd have to wait a while
Well, the lady don't mind
No, no, no, the lady don't mind
She just turns her head and disappears
And I kinda like that style
Little boat floats on the river
It's drifting through a haze
She floats by whenever she wants to
Well, there she goes again
Well, it's no trouble at all
No, no, no trouble at all
Well, what she does is all right with me
And I kinda like that style
Come on, come on, I go up and down
I like this curious feeling
I know, I see, It's like make-believe
Cover your ears so you can hear what I'm saying
I'm not lost, but I don't know where I am
I got a question
All right, all right, this is what we like
Who knows, who knows what I'm thinking?
She says love is not what she's after
But everybody knows
Each time she looks in the mirror
Well, she lets her feelings show
Well, the lady don't mind
No, no, no, the lady don't mind
She just turns around and disappears
And I kinda like that style
Uh-oh, uh-oh, here we go again
I don't know, Don't know what I'm sayin'
Hey man, hey man, I sure don't feel the same.
She likes to say what she's feeling
Hey, did I get a big surprise?
I know you think so
Come on, come on, she says anything
Who knows, who knows what she's thinking?
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh

I like them, but they are really, really overplayed. Think about it. And please think about U2 and R.E.M. too, please. Thank you.
never heard this song by the heads, so i really don’t know what you’re talking about.
(Television Man takes first.)
Beautifully stated. A lot of TH fans lamented that they never got back together, but I'm perfectly fine with what they left us during their glorious run.
Start with Stop Making Sense. See the movie, even. You'll be fully converted. Then buy this album, and then work your way backwards through their catalog.
You're welcome. ;)
This is my exact story with Talking Heads, and then was turned on to David Byrne's solo work. Enjoy almost everything that has his name on it.
.
lol your in the minority lol

sorry but way to much TH and DB. Expand your horizons....
and I do use PSD
just sayin'
Another day, several more overplayed Talking Heads songs, far beyond any other band it seems. Don’t get it, otherwise love RP. Hearing less Tom Petty, so that’s a plus.

TH always evoke that particular feeling inside of me that life on this planet is "hopeless, but not serious" :)
I like that strange melancholy (especially in Road to Nowhere, but basically in all their songs) mixed with an equally strange feeling that there is hope that everything turns out to be good, no matter how it looks at the moment.

I Agree!! Completely!!
Sorry TH...gong for this track....PSD...
Have you read his book "How Music Works"? It's a good read on TH, the music industry, and music in general.
This song and Television Man still make me stop and listen.
We are still good friends...and I'm trying to be...listening to everything.
It helps that this and Brothers In Arms were topping the charts at the same time. They dominated in '85.
Well, three art students. Jerry Harrison was an architecture student (and played with The Modern Lovers) in Boston several years before he joined the Talking Heads.
Sorry, there's a special place in hell for this album. The edgy, New Wave TH and the African Eno TH were gone at this point and they were fairly boring.
me too.
There's nothing wrong with NAKED - It is a great album!!! Just need to listen a few more times
I believe I do too...it always leads me back to a great time of my life...esp. this track...
Mannered, not very edgy, and somewhat needy.
He's forgotten his own admonition: "I don't have to prove / that I am creative."
Insta-, as usual.

That pretty much sums up the world-view of twenty somethings in the early 80's in NYC. Basically how things turned out too.

Other Lives - For 12
Alt-J - Bloodflood
Woodkid - I Love You
Eels - Woman Driving, Man Sleeping
Talking Heads - The Lady Don't Mind
Incredible blend of old/new groove-based experimental alternative.
And this is why I never can listen to Pandora/iTunes Radio or any other computer generated radio station for more than 20 minutes...

Indeed... there, sadly, is.
Say what you want (and I know you will!) - I'm really starting to love this band.

"Cause"? I'm not aware of any anti-Byrne campaigns and wouldn't join one if there were one. Just letting off steam, man, just like the rest of the stiffs on this board. Cred to Byrne for being innovative, and a great songwriter, but his voice always provokes a leap to the mute button. The chatterati love him to bits, I know, so maybe it's my loss.

Neither is there a "right" or "wrong" musical judgement - one person's Sucko-Barfo is the next's Godlike, a statement of the bleedin' obvious yet which seems to need continually restating on this board. Personally, I've respect for him as a songwriter and innovator, it's his voice that gets right on my tits. Much the same as Neil Young's and Bob Dylan's do, two other exceptional writers.

YOU DON'T OWN ANY TALKING HEADS ALBUMS???
Okay, I love Talking Heads and an awful lot of Byrne's solo stuff. But the problem with this sort of "support" is that you descend to the level of the criticism with which you disagree. Or as my Uncled Ned once said, "Don't argue with a fool, boy. Folks can't tell the difference."
OMG, that's SO funny AND brilliant!!!
arty literate fun.
Not hating the TH, just a bit meh. ;)

Yup.
Can't disagree more. This is one their finest moments and a personal fave with lots of meaning and memory.
Right on! I saw these folks (along with the Tom Tom Club) back in the day. Always relevant, always rhythmically bizarre (in a good way!), and always pushing the envelope of what it meant to be a rock and roll band. Bravo!

So you hate the music but you stay tuned. Guess you like suffering.
There's always the next song on the playlist. Do you turn away everytime a song you don't like is played?
So you hate the music but you stay tuned. Guess you like suffering.
Anyway - I've always loved this song.
