There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world
It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the world
Say that you'll never never never never need it
One headline why believe it ?
Everybody wants to rule the world
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
Climate change deniers should be required to listen to this a 100 times in a row, or until they can explain their ignorance:
Turn your back on mother nature
and
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
and
I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
and
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Free Thinkers who still possess the ability to be Curious, who Understand that Science is Never Settled, and who shine Light on Facts and Data beyond the Headlines - can play this Game too.
We will find you.
Acting on your best behaviour
(Virtue Signalling, Mob approved Flag Waver.))
Turn your back on mother nature
(Lithium Mines, Wind Turbines such a Deadly Wager.) )
There's a room where the light won't find you.
(Leave all common sense behind you.)
One headline why believe it ?
(Science silenced, refuse to receive it.)
All for freedom and for pleasure
(Your compliance is being measured.)
Nothing ever lasts forever
(Climate CHANGES)
*Climate the Movie - worthy watch. Might learn something!
And still WONDERFUL!!
Then hit the SKIP BUTTON!! Problem solved!! ...and, we don't have to hear you gripe!!
Rich man wanna be King,
An' a King ain't satisfied until he,
Rules everything..."
Bruce Springsteen
Dramatic much?
Kind of an apt song for 11/06/2021 if you think about it.
If you pay attention to human behavior and history, you don't have to think about it, you already know it.
Kind of an apt song for 11/06/2021 if you think about it.
...which is kindof scary in in itself
I'll bite.
The brother of the current UK Opposition leader is a climate scientist.

He's not a climate scientist. His first degree is in physics with a masters in astrophysics. He's as much a climate scientist as Nigel Lawson, and about as reliable.
Can't say that abot their haircuts

This explains my ignorance as a 'climate denier' if you can be bothered to do some research as opposed to listening to mainstream media and what they would like you to think.
I have done the research and it is absolutely, totally clear that climate change or global warming or whatever it is that is being peddled for your control and money is utter bunkum.
Thank you.
Peace.
I think you mean you'll "bite".

Me too, I can still picture the Billiard Balls of the intro...
I still give it a low 8.
The guy on the left of the album cover reminds of the Jon Crier character, Duckie, in "Pretty in Pink" from that same era.
Mitch: You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning...
Chris Knight : Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?
Mitch : No...
Chris Knight : Why am I the only one who has that dream?
This is definitely NOT in that category.
Now there's a thing ...
Amazing memories!
Absolutely... it has aged so very, very well. Reminds me of a very specific 4 month period of my life that was traumatic yet ultimately rewarding.
Old_shep captured it perfectly with his comment for a Joni Mitchell song:

Same for me as well.
This is one of the few 80s bands that I actually appreciate MORE than I did in the 80s. Very tight musicians who play as well or better live as they do in studio.
(hey squidlydiddly I've got some property here in the Hamptons thats soon to be declared beachfront and I'll sell it to you for a song!)

Scientific consensus: Earth's climate is warming
Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. The following is a partial list of these organizations, along with links to their published statements and a selection of related resources.
AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES
Statement on climate change from 18 scientific associations
"Observations throughout the world make it clear that climate change is occurring, and rigorous scientific research demonstrates that the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are the primary driver." (2009)2
SCIENCE ACADEMIES
International academies: Joint statement
"Climate change is real. There will always be uncertainty in understanding a system as complex as the world’s climate. However there is now strong evidence that significant global warming is occurring. The evidence comes from direct measurements of rising surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures and from phenomena such as increases in average global sea levels, retreating glaciers, and changes to many physical and biological systems. It is likely that most of the warming in recent decades can be attributed to human activities (IPCC 2001)." (2005, 11 international science academies)10
“Human influence on the climate system is clear, and recent anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history. Recent climate changes have had widespread impacts on human and natural systems.”14

Climate Change Deniers is an offensive label that stifles free thought which makes you an ignorant SJW. Even Michael Mann has admitted there has not been any warming for almost 20 years. Try to think for yourself.
Except that the last several months have been hotter than the ones before them, this July (2016) being the hottest month on record...ever. Apparently Mann hasn't been paying attention lately.
Exxon knew about man-made global warming in the late 70's/early 80's from their own research but covered it up, actively lied about it, and paid outside scientists and groups to lie for years. Last I heard Exxon was being prosecuted for it.
Warming is not from sunspots, changing magnetic fields, natural climate cycles, the Four Horsemen riding, or any of the other hare-brained excuses invented by deniers. It's from human activity and burning fossil fuels for the last 150 years, and it has finally caught up with us. We live in a greenhouse that we've heated and is now out of control.
Deniers are some of the most gullible, stupid people I've ever seen. Next, they'll be telling us that water is not wet and the sun doesn't rise in the east - that it's all a plot to stifle free thought and get more taxes.
Well done, Roland and Neil!

This should be the theme song.
Don't forget Elemental which was really a Roland Orzibal solo album with a great session band.
It seems that every time it is played or done by a cover band that knows what it is doing, people just smile and start moving to the music.
Know what you mean. Something about this song grabs me, and I must have heard it 1000 times.

Oh my goodness... what a great classic song... and it as contemporary as ever in meaning, as this evidences—
Edward Snowden— saving us from the United Stasi of America
In my estimation, there has not been in American history a more important leak than Edward Snowden's release of NSA material – and that definitely includes the Pentagon Papers 40 years ago. Snowden's whistleblowing gives us the possibility to roll back a key part of what has amounted to an "executive coup" against the US constitution.
Since 9/11, there has been, at first secretly but increasingly openly, a revocation of the bill of rights for which this country fought over 200 years ago. In particular, the fourth and fifth amendments of the US constitution, which safeguard citizens from unwarranted intrusion by the government into their private lives, have been virtually suspended...
There are too many people worried about rights and not enough about responsibility. You can't have one without another.

It was the same in the mid to late 70s with all of those "now-in-the-rock-hall-of-fame" bands like Talking Heads, Blondie and the Pretenders.
I can't help but laugh when people refer to a great song like this as 80's corporate overplayed schlock.
It's just simply a great song and that is not changed by where or how often its played.
WFDU or WLIR?
It may be total 80's but it's not drivel!

I am with you. I spent the 80's in a cabin off the grid in Alaska. This is kind of music part of the reason why. Some times quiet is just better.
I'm all for quiet, but you didn't have to move to Alaska to get away from 80s music. You could have just put something you liked on the turntable.
Sorry, but it is just a fair example of the 80´s worst.
Just crap for me.
My opinion, of course.

The first and second amendments are looking pretty tattered as well of late.
