Hated by all and everywhere he goes
Blazing contempt for human life and lies
Murder as art and what he knows he knows
From life and fear in other people's eyes
Crazy love is all around me
Love is crazy love is kind
But I know somehow you'll find me
Love is crazy love is blind
She walks the boulevard without a care
Knowing too much but having come so far
Pretending life is just a game you play for nothing
Loving no one and no where
Crazy love is all around me
Love goes crazy given time
But I know somehow you'll find me
Love is crazy love is blind
She looks as if expecting a surprise
Maybe an encounter that will change her life
Not knowing hot from cold or good for bad
If life is just a joke or if it makes her sad
Crazy love is all around me
Love is crazy love is kind
But I know somehow you'll find me
Love is crazy love is blind
Crazy love is all around me

She's had a hard life and survived. I like that. And damaged or not....I like her voice too!

Wait until you hear "Cult With No Name - You Know Me Better Than I Know Myself" when it comes up again in rotation. That's like an entire medical testing facility of cats.
Good god, who the hell was that killing the cat? That violin at the end is like nails on chalkboard.

I'm concerned of your logic
Knowing of Ms. Faithful's life history, should we be concerned for the life safety of the child resting her head in Ms. Faithful's lap?

I think someone deliberately chose the violin playing to match her voice. Clever really.

I like. Thoughtful but hopeful. And I like the album title and the cover art, it's certainly more evocative and more accessible than some of the other graphically or thematically challenged images that the artists or others decide makes for a good presentation of the music or the brand. Anyway, I'll give the song a 6 to start and a 7 for the cover art.
First time its been played since 2005...I actually kind of like this.

Sometimes Bad is Good...
I guess that's why my ears perked up. I liked it, while at the same time recognized that it was, well, "creatively" played.
Yup, sometimes bad is good. But only GI Joe is GI Joe.
Nothing personal against Marianne Faithful, I grew up with her in the 60's in London, but I hate this song, the song is terrible, I have to say she can't sing either-please don't play this song anymore
The violin part was done by Warren Ellis of Nick Cave's group The Bad Seeds and seeing as how the song was produced by Nick, it's a sure bet that the "bad" playing was intentional to underscore the intense emotionality of the song.
Sometimes Bad is Good...
Crazy and lovely just like herself
Desterate fiddling though

The lyrics were poor.
Her voice: still fine.
I think it's great that she's helping out the community by having first year violin students from the neighbordhood do her accompaniment.
What he said.
That violin was Aha, this is who is springing to mind every time I hear Tom McRae's voice. Not sure that's a compliment for either one of them.

Avarage is (still) only 5.4, where I read only possitive comments (that I deerly agree with). I put an 8, but that might grow.
Wonderfull.

back in the sixties, she had a very pretty voice. her massive hit version of the stones' "as tears go by" was a good example of this.
however, she was also a famous junkie (or something) and she faded into obscurity, eventually emerging from her fog with the brilliant album "broken english," on which we got our first taste of her new, damaged, ragged singing voice.
this newest album actually shows a new, mature, somewhat smoother vocal style.
through it all, she's given us songs filled with plenty of intelligent insight.
rock on, marianne!
I remember that Mick had something to do with her tumble. As I recall, she was something of a virginal figure up till the time she became Mick's girlfriend for a spell. She's certainly had ups and downs.
She's one of my favorites and has been since the sixties. Her voice is especially good on the soundtrack to Trouble in Mind and on a collection of Brecht/Weill songs, Twentieth Century Blues.

I thought this voice sounded familiar. With a little digging I found this is indeed the same woman who sings on the Metallica song "The Memory Remains." She sounds better here than on the Metallica song.

That Violin sounds like my 4th grade recital.

Flo from Mel's Diner sings the blues.
8) Faithfull's album "Broken English" is fabulous. Contains "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" with keyboards by Steve Winwood and used in the film "Montenegro". The album also contains "Why'd You Do It" one of the most direct communications on the pain of infidelity I have ever heard. Not for the faint hearted.

Listening to this song, I looked up in interest. After really listening to it, I decided that this must be the work of someone who REALLY wants to be a musician, but will never make it out of birthdays and weddings. Oh well.

"The angel-faced singer of the Stones' "As Tears Go By" was also a minor film actress, but she's best known as the girlfriend to Mick Jagger during the second half of '60s."
I was listening to this and thought "no, it can't be, she can't still be making records" Lo and Behold it IS her! I've always had a soft spot for Marianne, rather like a female Leonard Cohen. Excellent in small doses.
