Like this track much more than the other we hear from this album on RP - forgot name ;)
Starsky & Hutch are on the scene with Huggy Bear and something's going down.

Another example of why we need ½ ratings.  To me this is better than 7.0 but I don't think I'm ready to give it 8.0.

Thank You for the link!   MMW use a LOT of early electronic keyboards!  Such as Mellotron  & Wurlitzer Piano!
RP introduced me to them. Now I have EIGHT of their tunes on "My Favorites" list. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!
i just love this! especially right after Yachts. thanks for picking up the afternoon mood.

I Agree! And, they really kick it, playing with John Scofield!

We could run a competition here for identifying the most of the much-loved 'spot the influences/rip-offs' that many of us seem to comment on. There are so many audio neurones firing off in my head listening to this groovey melange!  No PF, though...

EXCELLENT!!  I heard this band for the first time on RP, now I like a LOT of their music.  Thanx RP!

Cool tunes... from that 'law firm'.

Keep 'em coming!
Medeski Martin & Wood.  Sounds like the name of a law firm

Just what a wet saturday of admin drudgery needs.
Nice segue from MMW to Traffic, both of which feature a musician named Chris Wood (different guys).

It's a subject of continuous debate, but one would have to pay attention to the music to make a "considered" judgement.
MMW .. amazing.
Meh.  A 4 and a PSD

Must be on account of the mighty organ, mate. Fnarr, fnarr :o)
Medeski, Martin & Wood: Better at spelling than Arcade Fire.
So so much good music from these guys.

Is that necessarily a bad thing?  It seems to be the sound they were going for.

Does replacing a star for the letter u really make any difference?  it is as if you are saying you disapprove of the word but want to use it anyway...the reason that got started as a tradition is because some companys' web sites have software to prevent the word fuck from being typed...I would do that when I posted from work just in case, but I doubt it was necessary
Love this tune - much more humorous than Beck's lame disco funk track.

so, from johnwys - Nov 15'08  and Oct 29'09; jb0nez 23Aug'11, and happened today again =D (just to document it ;)
or maybe they just think it goes really well after Beck.
(PSD for me, sorry Medeski & co.. )

Also counsel to "Car Talk." Guess they get around.

It is amazing how John Medeski can play 2 leads simultaneously on 2 instruments.
OK, can we have some Billy Preston after this....Please?

I guess this is at least the third time that this track has followed Beck's "MIxed Bizzness" on RP but it's ok because it's one of the greatest song transitions I've ever heard!  If something works it works.

I wouldn't know; I guess I'll have to take your word for it.  I wouldn't think most of them ever heard of this band.  Not a bad tune...once in a while.

Pretty much liked this, bought the CD, very happy, looking forward to the summer outside eating with this on in the background. Thanks Bill, also for the K&D session, both good.

If you're gonna rob Billy Preston, at least steal some of the funk!

Hmm, that was weird.  The intro to this track sounds different than the CD.  Oh well.... I love this number!

This rocks! Never heard it before.
Jammin!!
Excellent grove in this one, kinda dig the entire album. However, the use of freaky space sounds and sampling and whatnot could be toned down a bit. For me it's just a distraction from the general excellentness of the musicians.
MMW!! Huzzah!!
The ghost of Billy Preston was in the recording studio.

I think it's an amazingly cohesive song that shows a well-planned progression, with a beginning, middle, and end. There are a lot of places to explore in music, and this song travels a lot without ever getting lost. To me it seems more like a movement from a symphony than a pop song, so I expect some development of the main theme, not just verse/chorus, verse/chorus, bridge, verse/chorus, chorus/fade.
This entire album is just rock solid. I loved and have since bought 3 more MMW albums. This ons is still the best. I think it shows more cohesion in its tracks and as a whole album than "uninvisible" or "the dropper". The dropper would be the next album you should get by theses guys if you liked this one.

Somewhere there's a cheesy 70's detective show missing its theme song.

Not ready for this first thing upon waking this morning!
Knew it was MMW as soon as it started...not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Pretty good tune, anyway, if somewhat predictable.
nice groove tune!

me too. i love it - it's great driving music.
"meh" I admit funk doesn't really get me. Yet, at the same time, the reason I keep listening to (and supporting) RP is for the variety of tunes. I got blown out on commercial (broadcast) radio for the constant repetition. I just can't stand listening to, even, an endlessly repeated genere. When I'm not listening to RP, I play my entire 62GB music library at random, excluding anything that's been played in the last three weeks!
Incredible band, incredible album...

Great song. I tried uploading a few MMW tunes some time ago and was denied. Glad to hear them getting some play in Paradise. If you enjoy MMW here you have to go and see them live any chance you get.
The organ is the icing on this puppy. Yes, really stellar album.
Wow, and what a great segue from Ian Brown's Happy Ever After. The longer it plays the higher I'm rating it!

SWEET.......shades of old Weather Report stuff.........
Thanks to whoever uploaded this cut. Great album.
