On the corner of Main Street
Just tryin' to keep it in line
You say you wanna move on and
You say I'm falling behind
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
I never really gave up on
Breakin' out of this two-star town
I got the green light, I got a little fight
I'm gonna turn this thing around
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
The good old days, the honest man
The restless heart, the Promised Land
A subtle kiss that no one sees
A broken wrist and a big trapeze
Oh, well, I don't mind, if you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you go
Can you read my mind?
It's funny how you just break down
Waitin' on some sign
I pull up to the front of your driveway
With magic soakin' my spine
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
The teenage queen, the loaded gun
The drop-dead dream, the Chosen One
A Southern drawl, a world unseen
A city wall and a trampoline
Oh, well, I don't mind, if you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you go
Tell me what you find
Can you read my mind?
Slippin' in my faith until I fall
He never returned that call
Woman, open the door, don't let it sting
I wanna breathe that fire again
She said, I don't mind, if you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Put your back on me
Oh, put your back on me
Oh, put your back on me
The stars are blazing like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun
Can you read my mind?
Just tryin' to keep it in line
You say you wanna move on and
You say I'm falling behind

Slightly underrated, I'm giving it a 7 but my ratings generally skew lower than the curve. I'm suprised this isn't a 7.3 at least.
Through the course of listening to this song, my rating went from a 7 to a 6 down to a 4. Finally settled on 5. Starts out well and goes downhill.
Just heard the TRAJIC news that Neil Peart, Rush's Drummer, has passed away due to brain cancer. A very sad day.
The Gabrieal and Dresen remix of this is quite something
There's a band out there called the Ruen Brothers- the vocals sound like if Flowers was a good singer.... That said, I actually like this song to the tune of about a 6 or 7

Although I wrote a negative comment, I saw them in concert a few years ago and it was great. Very fun. I like the song, it is just that he isn't singing his best, and well, there is so much better from them. I am glad you loved it.
Enjoying it so much! Boo to all haters.

Nice to hear The Killers here. But why this one?
Well, that sucked.
Enjoying it so much! Boo to all haters.
There is much better stuff from them...something from Battle Born please. That hasn't even been touched by RP. This one (or anything from Sam's Town) should be discarded from the playlist, quite frankly.

It is painful for me to hear Brandon Flowers. He is off key way more than he is on. Ghastly.

Is this really Radio Paradise? I can't believe it. Horrible!
Just sounds so cheap. Can't explain it - but it sounds like the cheap teeny stuff that people attributed to early Talk Talk, but Talk Talk were able to evolve big time.
Nice throwback. Definately made me listen...
Huh. I'm kind of surprised to hear this played on RP.
Just not my style...
I miss these guys.
I finally listened to The Killers to see what all the fuss was about, sounded like Maroon 5 or something. Not horrible I guess, more for the teenagers who still listen to top 40 and MTV or whatever. Mega meh.
Good tune - regardless of how "unprofessional" some may believe them to be. Every so often, a little "amateurish"-sounding stuff is what music needs - not too often, of course. Sometimes you have performers that are so "professional", that they're essentially bloodless, as in "professional" bands like Toto or Styx.

Ah, satisfied, my rating made this song one decimal less good on average :)
Going to rate this a 10 to spite the hipster doofus crowd that says "better bands in the 80's". Hipster doofus as it gets
Probably the only song I like from this album. They really started getting derailed after this IMO.
Come to think about it, I think I only really liked Hot Fuss as a whole. The rest were just meh...

My favorite Killers' song ever. So glad to hear it here!

He has a weak tremulous voice, but there is still some toe-tapping goodness in this and other Killers/Flowers work.
Always curious how someone would choose this band instead of SEVERAL other great bands from the 80s.....they are such copycats and horrible at it to boot!

I wouldn't mind them so much if someone in the band could actually sing. The guy on "Mr. Brightside" doesn't even try—he's just yelling.
Edit: now feels like a shaky demo by Rick Ocasek or Todd Rundgren or someone trying to sound like both of them at the same time.
What a horrible band

Great band!
this song is pretty amazing... defintely one of the best songs off this album.. but I am jus a tad partial.
Yes, I like it.
Although the band is rather pretentious (ala from Las Vegas), they are quite lyrical with a good basic idea of creating new music with each album. This is due to the top producers that have touched everything they have done to date. For those that like Coldplay, U2, Muse, then this is a good jr. varsity team to them, and you definitely need 3-4 listens to "get it".
I'm getting to quite like this lot - thanks RP!
Hmmmm. Nope.

I'd tend to agree, as I suspect this band is an late 00's flash-in-the-pan, but time will tell.
The Killers had the closing spot on Saturday night, on the main stage. Paul McCartney had that spot on Friday night, and The Cure had it on Sunday. The Killers were definitely not in the same class with those acts.

These guys suck so much I wonder why RP would even play them. It's way below the usual standards of quality. I caught them on Later and they suck even more live. The lead singer looks like a pretentious douche. Oh well, good time to take a break until the song is over.

These guys are underrated.
What a horrible band
First time I've said this on RP: MUTE!

Based on the song's rating, I am in the minority, but this song is on my 'Top 10 pop songs of the decade' song list.
Minimally acceptable electronic pop. I saw these guys at Coachella, and they were really unimpressive.
The musicianship was excellent (synthesizer-enhanced keyboards, drums, and guitars), but Brandon Flowers (the lead singer) sucked.
Weak voice, sounded like he'd been at "Sam's Town" all evening before the gig. His voice actually broke on high notes, and he seemed to be "phoning it in" for most of the show.
I hate to be so critical, but I don't like unprofessional "professional" musicians.

More Killers Bill !!!!
For some reason, I'm feeling a little goatish, and it doesn't have anything to do with the Bighorn ram.

This barely made the "7" cut. Seems fairly generic but might grow on me.
