Well you say you got the blues,
You got holes in both of your shoes, yeah-
You're feeling alone and confused,
You got to keep on smilin', just keep on smilin'

Yeah, you're- you're bout to go insane,
Cause your womans playing games,
And she says that you're to blame,
You try to keep on smilin', just keep on smilin'

Keep on smilin' through the rain, laughin' at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes, till the sun comes out again
Keep on smilin' through the rain, laughin at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes, and singin' this refrain

Singing in a honky tonk cafe,
Nobodys hearin' what you play, yeah-
They're too busy drinkin anyway,
You gotta keep on smilin', brother keep on smilin'

Say you found a piece of land
Gonna change from city boy to country man, yeah-
Try to build you're life with your hands
And just keep on smilin', keep on smilin'

Keep on smilin' through the rain, laughin' at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes, till the sun comes out again
Keep on smilin' through the rain, laughin at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes, and singin' this refrain

You're just hangin out- in a local bar,
And you're wonderin'- who the hell you are
Are you a farmer - are you a star?

Smile on through the rain
Laugh all through the pain
Flow through to changes
Till the sun comes out again

Keep on smilin', smilin' - smilin', smilin'
Laughin, laughin- said laughin', laughin'
Keep on flowin', flowin', flowin' -- YEAH....

Wet Willie earned a mention in The South's Gonna Do It Again by the Charlie Daniels Band. I THINK I've heard Marshall Tucker here but certainly not CDB. Too bad:

Elvin Bishop settin' on a bale of hay
He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play
And there's ZZ Top and you can't forget
That old brother Willie's gettin' soakin' wet
And all the good people down in Tennessee
Are diggin' Barefoot Jerry and the CDB
LOL at the line in the lyric:
"Try to build you're life with your hands"
Great old song! One of my all time favorites.
What fantastic memories of this, as I’m finishing up high school and they play this at the dance and the entire class is on its feet jumping around and then yelling “WHO THE HELL YOU ARE!!”

i still think this every time. crazy!! i must be the only one who hears morrison.
Saw Jimmy Hall sing this a couple of months ago.  He can still get after it.
These cats opened for Grand Funk Railroad at the old Tampa Stadium shortly after this was released, and it was still fresh; from what I remember of it (  ), they put on one helluva show!
First time listening to this artist. Love it! Love the 70's music, there was something REAL about it. I wouldlove to get more like this here in Radio Paradise. Thanks!
Wow, It's been a long time!
Great band....good tune (but not close their best)
still one of the great band names
Holy Moley! I haven't heard this one in 40 years or so. And I remember it so well, and it still sounds fresh. Kinda liked this song even though FM radio killed it in the day. Still love it.
Wow have not heard this one in a while thanks bill
that was one good summer
Pretty bad, 1974 generally was w/ 1 hit wonders.
Lee Michaels, Ray LaMontagne, then this. What kind of evil genius can possibly be behind this collection of intrepid tomfoolery?

keep on smilin'.  good coping mechanism
tee hee wet willie

Everybody in my church loves this song...  we be dancing...

Saw these cats at Kings Dominion circa 1976-78.... Probably one of the reasons I am so happy today. :-)
always thought this was van morrison.

Oh yes, just got here from PSD and so glad I did.  Wonder if I could get Lee Michales if I hit it again?

It was high school for me, but great memories.  This is the greatest place for music.

Thank you Bill & Rebecca.
Never heard this before but I like it.
Will have to research and see how many other Wet Willie songs I like.
Keep up the interesting variety of music.

Finally getting around to listening to the RP load on my iPOD. Now this gem hits the BOSE and I'm..... smilin' (and dancin')!
Just bumped it to an 8, Bill. You are makin' my otherwise quiet new year's eve a real joy. Ta'!

And BTW, Happy New Year!

Whoa! Major flash back. Didn't think I would ever hear this again. Thanks Bill. This is why I keep supporting RP.

Man, I haven't heard this since 1974.

LOVE IT
And I guess that makes me 2nd.  LOVE the 70's stuff you've played this morning Bill, thanks!
Well, there's the Wet Willie I heard back in the Lee Michaels song 2 songs ago. Sharing the Bill Brainwave....

Wonder if Delbert McClinton's next?

This sure takes me back...
A sweet old melody that I don't need to hear too often, but makes me smile when it does come up.
I'm first?

Wow....what a nice groovin' funky old song from back in the day! I could swear I've heard it on RP before, but...guess not. But I will definitely keep on smilin'    {#Cheesygrin}
