Like the highway rolls in your childhood dream.
I'm a wild abandoned ray of heat
And I'm coming for you like a stampede.
I'm coming for you like a driving rain,
I'm coming for you like a storm unchained,
I'm coming for you like a third refrain.
In a heavy heart there's a sea of light,
Secret until dead of night.
Where the deeper meanings dare to fight
And I'm coming for you like a voice inside.
I'm coming for you like a final round,
I'm coming for you like a tempted hound,
I'm coming for you like fury and sound.
I'm coming for you like the world's on fire,
I'm coming for you like a gospel choir,
I'm coming for you and I will not tire.
Like a wizards peril far from home,
Like a quivered arrow all alone,
I'm a new born and I'm growing old
And I'm coming for you with a heart of gold.
I'm coming for you like a driving rain,
I'm coming for you like a storm unchained,
I'm coming for you like a final round,
I'm coming for you like a tempted hound,
I'm coming for you like the world's on fire,
I'm coming for you like a gossip gospel choir,
I'm coming for you.
Three refrains in this song. She let us know in the first one.
So very happy to hear Amelia Curran!!!!!!! I'm from a small province in Canada Nova Scotia...Amelia's played here often....We have so much amazing music here.....would love to here more from my fav's...ie: Matt Anderson (Blues) Lennie Gallant **** (Check out his song Peters Dream!!!) Rose Cousins (any of her stuff!!!) and that's just the tip of what goes on here on this coast. I love love love RP and will be sending cash in another month or so...thank you ...Thank -you!!!!!!!!
I'm constantly surprised by how much good music I've never heard before comes out of Canada.
I like this more and more. It's a simple tune but the lyrics are fabulous! And hilarious. John Prine could have written this. And that's a compliment. Gotta learn this one. Thanks RP!
amelia could have been influenced by john prine
Coming for you like a gospel choir?
looks like someone was looking for something rhyme with "fire"....
pretty lame
You've obviously never experienced the energy, enthusiasm, and power of a gospel choir.
This song is the perfect example of NFLD mediocrity. Hail huzzah to those that like this song. Very poor example of music inventiveness.
WRONG. First listen = 8 rating.
At some parts it reminds me of Eliza Gylkison (Sp?)
Cheers

I was making a silly, facetious joke about her nationality, not her language - she is Canadian, not English and won an award for "English Songwriter of the Year" (note the spinning propeller-beanie icon I inserted in the post to indicate that I was not being serious). I am quite familiar with Canada and have visited Quebec but I guess facetious humor loses something when written instead of spoken.
Cheers.

Sorry I haven't heard your album yet. When is the release date? What's that? You haven't recorded an album? Kinda what I thought.
That was the bane of my report cards (not Borderlands) at high school too.
Cheers

Another RP jewel
More investigation needed, followed no doubt by more expense! Thanks Bill...
Kind of Ray LaMontagne crossed with Tracy Chapman feel. Can't be a bad thing.
Cheers SECA_Alan! You've got a way with words : )
You took the words out of my mouth!

Canada is broken up into Provinces. Allot like the States in the USA, but you can fit 10 states into one province. Canada also has two official languages, English and French. Most of Canada speaks English, but one of the Provinces called Quebec, specks French. Quebec is also one of the biggest Provinces, with one of the greatest population. For that reason, and the reason most of us love our multi culture country ways, make up what Canada is. In fact it's Amelia's East Coast culture of living in the Province of Newfoundland that influences her music that some of us here so love.
I hope this helps.

In the wretched USA?????
Why would a Canadian songwriter be nominated for "English Songwriter of The Year"? That's just crazy!
