Please don't dominate the rap, Jack
If you got nothing new to say
If you please, don't back up the track
This train's got to run today

I spent a little time in the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I heard some say "better run away"
Others say "better stand still"

Now I don't know but I've been told
It's hard to run with the weight of gold
Other hand I heard it said
It's just as hard with the weight of lead

Who can deny? Who can deny?
It's not just a change in style
One step done and another begun
In I wonder how many miles?

I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
Things went down we don't understand
But I think in time we will

Now I don't know but I was told
In the heat of the sun a man died of cold
Do we keep on coming or stand and wait
With the sun so dark and the hour so late?

You can't overlook the lack Jack
Of any other highway to ride
It's got no signs or dividing lines
And very few rules to guide

I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I saw things getting out of hand
I guess they always will

Now, I don't know but I've been told
If the horse don't pull, you got to carry the load
I don't know whose back's that strong
Maybe find out before too long

One way or another
One way or another
One way or another
This darkness got to give
[etc]

Excellent!

I prefer my Dead covered, if you know what I mean...

Stop the covers!!
The cover is marginal at best, but the horns really kill it for me... Sorry kids, but this cover just plain sux compared to any other version I've heard IMHO...
I generally like to hear cover versions, but it's annoying when you overplay an inferior cover and never play the original.
Not too bad until the horn section steps all over the groove - terrible horn arrangement IMHO...

Wow, this is a Grateful Dead tune?!? They do a great job with it. I'm not a particular fan of the Dead but fir this cover me likee.

BA is quite good,   Dead are quite good,  New Speedway Boogie is excellent.
This cover - not the best effort kinda grates but still a decent 6 -7     Of course as far as covers go    WOW  thanks Bill for taking that nonsense out of my head with one of the BEST COVERS EVER     THE MAN IN BLACK  covers the 9Inch Nails  this is AWESOME   love ya RadioParadise
you never go wrong...covering a Dead song.
Well, maybe this version works, kinda. Sorta. Almost but not quite.
Thought this was a slightly younger John Hiatt singing here. I was wrong.
The horns ruin this song.
No. No. No. Nope. Just no.
This song has a very different feel/sound than some of their other songs, fer sur.
Wow - love BA and also the dead… this is cool

This is ok, but pales by comparison to the Dead’s version. BillG - c’mon dude -!pls buy into your listernship wants a broader GD list …

As a septagenarian DeadHead, I pretty much apprciate all the modern covers...They also help to intoduce those not old enough to have experianced The Dead IRL to the community.

Not sayin that I dont apprciate hearing Good Ol Grateful Dead, as well!
Sounds like someone stuck a pin in John Mellencamp

From the Wikipedia bio:
"Zoe Jakes began belly dancing in 2000, but is a lifelong dancer, having 10 years of jazz and ballet dance experience under her belt."

If your experience in jazz and ballet dancing goes under your belt, where does your belly dance experience go?

Over your belt (in your belly).
Pales in comparison.
Worst brass section ever!

I like it. Nice one!

I once commented on a song that The Grateful Dead are the backbone of Radio Paradise and of course received some nasty comments to follow.  I still stand by my comment.

Yes sir...you did.  And my response wasn't nasty, it was forthright and pointed...and still correct.
In my opinion, this version is more preachy and less dark/gritty. Not my favorite cover of this song.
every damn day for weeks? getting way too much play

Woot!  Awesome friggin' awesome cover! I have never heard this version before. Just blew me away, had to come over to pc to comment.  Wow, thanks Bill... one of my favorite GD tunes! Just dancing in my seat smiling...
This song just keeps on giving.
