Photograph of us
In a spotlight
On a hot night
I was drifting in and out
Reticent on the off chance
I'm blunter than a bullseye
Begging for peace of mind

I get ahead of myself
Bracing for a bombshell

Your love written on a blank check
Wear it around your neck
I was at a loss
But you come to me on a fault line
Deep inside a goldmine
Hovering like a moth

I lose a bit of myself
Laying out eggshells

I've been yours for so long
We come right back to it
I let my mind run wild
Don't know why I do it
But you just settle in
Like a song with no end
If I can keep up
We'll get right back to it

If I swerve in and out of my lane
Burning up an old flame
Turn a jealous eye
I'll fall down into a fair game
Lick a wound that was not
Ever mine

I get ahead of myself
Refusing anyone's help

I've been yours for so long
We come right back to it
I let my mind run wild
I don't know why I do it
But you just settle in
Like a song with no end
If I can keep up
We'll get right back to it

I've been yours for so long
We come right back to it
I let my mind run wild
Don't know why I do it
But you just settle in
Like a song with no end
If I can keep up
We'll get right back to it
We'll get right back to it
We'll get right back to it

This is very, very good. Thanks Bill.
Very nice.  Need more country-bluegrass.
Love the harmony on the chorus.
Sometimes all you need is a simple, sincere, arrangement. With a tastefully understated banjo, and a jagged soul wistfully soaring over the storm waves.
She's a real talent, for sure, and she seems to have assembled some fine musicians to help her get the following she deserves! I'm grateful to RP for this!

One 5 vote, one 6 vote, I'll give it a 7. Let's see it develop..

I'll see your 7 and raise you to 8.
This is exactly RP.  A few minutes ago if you were to say the name of that small creek in Alabama, I would shake my head and say I don't know it.  Now I'll nod and smile and say, "Respect."
Such a catchy tune . . . really enjoying the harmonies on this one.
She's growing on me.
So far this is a 6
EDIT:  make that a 7, with room for more
ah....Beth Orton.
Met this group on Colbert"s late night show a few weeks ago. Something makes me come back for a listen over and over.
Waxahatchee is my husband's favorite artist right now - their music is inescapable in my house. I'm ok with that.

My Youtube stream suggested this to me a while back. It knows me well, what a great addition to my musical world! Love this.
Edit - This track has led me to MJ Lenderman who's lending some vocals to this track, and I'm very happy about that!
Nice!
