You don't have to be brilliant to see that Snowden gave intelligence to Russia in return for safety. But in the same time he did not have a lot of choice. What should he have done? It's still unheard that the NSA bugged friendly foreign nations upto the presidents and prime ministers. I always wondered why Merkel reacted like she was mildly not amused. Wars are started for less.
For me it was a valuable lesson that our friendly USA is treating almost every country like shit if it comes to privacy on every aspect. I for sure decreased my activity on the internet even more.

Yep. It's a universal truth of States, even those purportedly 'democratic', that laws are for the ruled and do not apply to the rulers. States create and enforce laws to bolster and enhance their own powers - 'democracy' is a necessary fiction to (literally) legitimise this, to ensure public support. As the old saying goes: do as I say, not as I do. Or, looking at the UK government, which has played fast and loose with the law in my living memory (50-odd years), Britannia waives the rules.

From the standpoint of a decades-long fan, I feel like he needs to get back to rock 'n roll! He's all mellow in his old age, just keeps re-packaging his old stuff. This, of course, is an exception, but it is a single for a movie that I don't think is all that great. Listen to ANY song on "So." He used to put out such awesome stuff. He hasn't put together anything really remarkable since Us!

Long time PG fan... can't say I like the song but I think of Snowden as a whistle blower, not a spy. He's not a Soviet defector, either. I'm sure he ain't there by choice.
