Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - burn with a weak heart
(So I) guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing
Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up + say goodnight . . . say goodnight
Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - -she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be
Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all tose kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh

Interesting!
The only name on that list I would choose to hear a little less of would be REM. I don't dislike them, I just prefer to hear them less frequently. ~ Peace. ~
Too much Talking Heads. Quirky? Yes. Some catchy hooks? Yes. Kitschy? Sure.
But not much more than that to justify all the air time they get.
Wasn't this performed with band members playing one another's instruments?
I do wonder who could possibly emulate the Weymouth bass groove!
One of my few 'godlike' ratings - this song encapsulates so many emotions, memories and wants.
The "Stop Making Sense" version is beautiful - the power that music has is second to none!
The dance with the lamp to this song was one of the high points of a video that was already extraordinary.
Shawn Colvin did a incredible album "Cover Girl" . Her versions of songs by Sting, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan are beautiful. Her rendition of Greg Brown's "Cool Remove", with Mary Chapin Carpenter is amazing. And Shawn's interpretation of "Naive" is soooo comfy.

Thank You for the info. I will check it out. Shawn Colvin is great.
Well said! This song always stops me in my tracks with a flood of great memories, the lyrics are simply terrific and uplifting, a forever classic....
I Agree!
This was on rotation at my son's wedding party - I used to play the album when he was a baby —
Can't type, crying now.

They all switched instruments on this song. No one played what they normally play. I've said before this song makes me smile, makes me cry and all inbetween. It is one of few songs that are perfectly done. Just my opinion...
Goddamn I love this song. Such a happy positive message it stops me in my tracks every time and I have to turn it up and take it in.
Same here!! ...And I bought this album right after it came out, & I am still digging it BIG TIME!
Whenevwr this comes on I always stop, listen, and groove.
SAME HERE!!
Here I am trying to work and this is playing, just excellent!

Another one of those Talking Heads songs where every individual element is brilliant. Love this one.
I Agree!! Completely!!
Another Talking Heads song where the Whole is Greater than the Sum of it's Parts! Master arrangers!
Also true!

Okay, so I put on rp, get my earbuds out, and step out to start watering the garden on a Sunday morning here in the mountains of Michoacan, and this is what comes on. If that don't make me smile, I don't know what will.
Ratio of TH play vs Beatles on this station: 100 :: 1 perhaps? And why is this again?

Everybody has different tastes. I think the keyboards are GREAT!!!
I AGREE!!
But fun base lines. Tina is very underrated IMHO.
I am not a big Talking Heads fan. They would not make my top 50, probably not even top 100, but come on -- they have some good tunes.
Me too!
Koko mel lambri olfa micuen. Tongues for timeless.
Me too!
I've seen him a couple of times - he's a fantastic performer.
Too bad David is such a dick to his former band mates
Saw his show last Wednesday in San Francisco, and it was incredible. One of the best shows I've seen in years. Some great video is on YouTube:

Awesome stagecraft.
So hard to pick just one, but if I could, this might be my favorite too.
Com certeza!
You might wanna have a word with Stingray (where is the guy anyway). He has the same deficiency, the inability to recognize melody.
Cool dancin'
You know, I am asking myself that self same question in regards to your person!
You sound like one of those joyless Emo people. Just bop your head and groove, bud.
Sage advice, Tippster.
I used to live at Schoolkids Records, Ann Arbor had some great record shops over the years
The pic below is Discount Records at the corner of State & Liberty, I dropped tons of cash there too
Elvis Costello and U2 got me through my first year of grad school. This album got me through my second year.
Awesome.
Skoolkids got a huge chunk of my disposable income in AA 78-81.

You may need a hearing aid. There's at least 3 melodies riffing through this number.

... "aggressive"? Huh?
that's fun
gruß an den Schleich , du Hirn
ohne dich keine Heads
Must be here somewhere already but oh well.
"I did write one love song, in this movie I sing it to a lamp!"
I've always been a 'Heads fan. Saw them a few times in the early days before they took off. I dunno if you had to live it to get it, but it probably helped.
Some never 'got' the 'Heads. They were a unique band that plowed up real new ground with their first four records.
That clown thing...a semi-weird 'Heads fan might ask: why are you so weird? lol
... "aggressive"? Huh?
so I can say: monotonously and boring.
although in the 1980s it seemed to me too sludge.
i think the generation you were born in may bias you toward one end of the century vs the other end.
i was six yrs old when this song came out and i bet you were in your twenties. i never heard it on the radio like i did the pretenders or the who...so how can i be anywhere near a position to judge the best songs of the century?
i guess i can count myself lucky for being the few to experience mtv...when it still played videos and had real news.
I was born in 1990.
And I didn't wrote „it's the best song of cenutry“.
DITTO!
I just can't stand Talking Heads.
Need to support you on that one.

A while back the theme was Beatles covers, which doesn't sound very interesting but he dug out some amazing tracks from around the world that really made it mesmerizing. The fact that they all began with a song that I was familiar with helped. Of course I'm no "beatles purist" who wails and moans anytime someone does a cover.
Love the Heads!
I'd second that in the singular... ;-)
Love the Heads!
PLEASE NOT!
Feels like Leonard Cohen and Pink Floyd!
OOOOH NOOOOOOOO - now he started singing!!!!!
Oh man! I love Leonard Cohen and Pink Floyd! ...Although maybe not on the same song. I don't see it though. Sorry you don't like it.
