Have you seen the Mystic Queen
Riding in her limousine
Over hills and dales 'til morning...
If you like I'll take you there
Find some colours you can wear
Colours that you've only seen while sleeping
Have you seen the Mystic Queen
Riding in her limousine
Over hills and dales 'til morning...
If you like I'll take you there

Argus, yes! Wolfy has the right idea. The intro to "Time Was" still spellbinds me.
Camel, yes! Now, how 'bout some Gentle Giant, say maybe "Aspirations" from The Power And The Glory, then followed by Wishbone Ash's "Leaf And Stream" from Argus? That would be a phenomenal autumn afternoon set.

Lost in the shuffle for a reason.
Bill is right that this band got lost in the shuffle. I knew of them, had listened to a bit of their music but never really got acquainted until Radio Paradise.
Lost gem if you ask me.
FWIW, Camel's music reminds me of quality ambient music. You can listen actively or have it in the background while working or during a dinner party.

Yes but you have the top three. The double live album is great too.
Already have Mirage, The Snow Goose and Moonmadness. And love it all.
Time to get the title album?

Wow, I'm a big Camel fan from way back (late '70s), haven't thought about them for awhile, but I woke up this morning singing "never let go" from this first album -
"man is born with a will to survive
he won't take no
for an answer
he will get by
somehow he'll try
he won't take no
never let go"
Our best wishes to you and your friends and neighbors...btw, not sure about just "man" these days, but this was 40 yrs ago, and all blokes in the band, so there ya go

I saw Camel here in Maassluis in the Netherlands, in the Toverbal in 72-73, very good for that time .. Nice reminders of that time .. :-)

Ah I see where Midlake got their inspiration now!
Miss Camel. Great band.
Pretty cool. Not the same genre, but some Dixie Dregs (aka The Dregs) would be cool too. Southern-Fried Prog Rock?

Lady Fantasy is worth playing. 2 smoke break.
Nice. Missed this completely in 1975.
Wondering if RP will play some Kansas next?

I listened to Triana and sorry but no it is not better. Not by a long shot.
Sui Generis from Argentina might be almost as good though.
For the Camel lovers... you guys should listen to the Spanish band Triana...way better.

So that's what I missed in the prog universe... Nice...

Yeah I know...I mean 'Toe Camel' just doesn't...sound...right...
They were so ahead of their time...especially dropping the Toe from their band name.

Thanks RP, for squeezing some relatively obscure prog into the mix!

An entire day of just the music of any single artist would grow tiresome pretty quickly...well, for me anyhow. And a full day of Camel? Um, no thank you.
Perhaps not the best of the best of Camel, but it nonetheless nice to hear something from Camel on RP!
Thanks!
PS: Why not program a "Camel-Day" on RP. So once or trice a year... They are eclectic enough.

Why? Because you don't like Camel? There are thousands of listeners here, not only you. I love Camel. And if someday RP will streaming a Camel-day, will be meritory of another money support from me. Not the end of RP. Maybe the end of YOU in RP

Yes! Follow it up with something from Opeth's Damnation album!
Yeah baby!
A little Camel makes for a friendly day. Thanks Bill.
Oh my god! Camel!
Always got them confused with Nektar and Wishbone Ash.
I think they did a song called "Dry as a Camel" and had killer guitar.

Exactly. Upon first hearing this tonight, the relatively early Pink Floyd influence is overwhelming. One could do worse, certainly. Sounds like they did around 1970-71.
Never heard this before, but MAN do they borrow from Floyd.
