since I discovered this radio station I stop watching tv. Thanks everyone

This song is too long and it bores me.

From the background singers, right?
I thought I was just hallucinating.

Wikipedia lists his discography at 61 albums!

Love it! Oliver, Thomas Mapfumo, Chicken Run band, Orchestra Baobab...there's a treasure trove of music right there
So nice!  What a beautiful flow!  RIP Oliver...

Oh my god... we're 20 years into this great Radio Paradise experiment.

Will we be here on this forum to see 40 year old posts?  I wonder.
Simply sublime

Really nice song.  Quite enjoy the backing vocals.

Are you sure it's not " I have lost the plot .."?
Open your heart for the roots of music. 👍
Great sound - reminds me of how much I miss South Africa
Rest in peace.
Heard this morning on NPR that Oliver had recently passed away.

In fact his Wikipedia account here states it was yesterday.
6 minutes — too long for this song with one musical phrase.

And you're saying that's a bad thing?

It looks like the song is in the "shona" language, this post says the song "is about how a mother refuses to give up her son — something that is asked of too many women in Africa today"

Here's the perfect example of a great artist I would never have heard about if not for RP. Kudos to RP and may you continue on in airing the best music I've never heard of.

I agree wholeheartedly!

Well, I finally got someone to translate this for me. He's singing "kill the white man." Actually, this is really nice. I'll check him out, based on this tune. Thanks for turning me on to it.

I'm with him ^
Part of me really hates it that I have no idea what the singer is saying. And if I were over-influenced by my resentment of that, I would miss all of the subtle nuance in the deceptively simple music.
But since I am not, I find this song very sweet indeed!
Beautiful.  Thanks again, Mr G.

Love this! {#Cool}

I am constrained to correct this. It is just plainly boring.

Awesome vibe early morning

superb music, many thanks for RP!

Beautiful!
I hope the words are as well.
I was sitting here taking a smoke break from playing my guitar, and this song stopped me dead in my tracks: Absolutely brilliant! Time for another trip to the iTunes store.....

Wow, has MY opinion changed. RP Effect. 3 => 8.
the record seems to be skipping...can someone jar it a bit? Aya wah pa! Aya wah pa! Aya wah pa!
I can't really listen to much Paul Simon but his influence is such that now I think of him when I hear African music.
This is really overplayed.

not bad, and i usually hate this kind of thing.
Does anyone listening have a copy of "Ami o" by Bebe Manga they could upload?
African music if often grating to me, but this is quite nice. I'm going to rush out and buy it, or anything, but it's nice.
sound alot like their song "Wake Up"...also very good.

Prettig in het gehoor, heerlijk rustige muziek
Well said-this is why I listen to RadioParadise. New music stemming from unique and diverse traditions. I may not always like the song, but each is generally well crafted.

Where else can you hear this and Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix and all the other killer music heard here all on one station? Thank you Radio Paradise
Isn\'t this the guy who appeared with Bonnie Raitt on Austin City Limits recently? What a great performance that was!
What a beautiful song!
great music....
An enchanting sound. Makes my morning worth it.
:D Thanks for the info Blarg. I like it even more knowing the meaning.
Very nice tune. Oliver Mtukudzi _Tuku Music_ Information about: MAI VARAMBA Society says that a son has to be a man and grow up to provide for the family. Even before he has fully matured, he has to go out into the world to prove his manhood. But we have here a mother who refuses to accept this. Her son can never be thrown into the deep end in this manner. Let him become a fully grown adult first. From: https://www.putumayo.com/cd/oliver/oliver.html
