Short story:  We're broke. We have several foster-cats that we rescued so the asshole who owned them couldn't strangle them. Lots of cats, which means more cat food. We came up short financially this month, so had to prevail upon our local no-kill shelter for a bag of cat food and a box of cat litter. They came through in amazing ways. Search "Animal House Shelter and Sanctuary" on Facebook.

They're a no-kill shelter. Please donate if you can, or at least go there and like them.  Nevada is notorious for letting horses starve and freeze in the winter, dumping dogs and cats by the side of the road, and shooting whatever moves if it looks like it might threaten the precious cows (and most ranchers don't treat the cows much better than the predators they kill, except that they bother to feed them once in awhile.) Animal House takes in the walking-wounded in the animal world., and they work with some of the veterinarians here to help low-income people get their pets spayed or neutered for about a third of what they'd normally have to pay. Animal House is my charity of choice, next to the Dan Fogelberg prostate cancer fund.

Anyway, I just finished filling the empty catfood dishes with the food lovingly-provided by Animal House when this song came on, and it just made me smile and feel okay with life in general. Cats are fed. Music is pleasing.  Life is good. (Death is bad, and I'm probably facing that, too, but I'd rather zero in on the life part.)

Bless you
The more I hear it, the more I like it!
GREAT!! I never heard of him before this. Thank You RP!

I wonder what happened to Cynaera's cats.
Great sound, and love the juicy bass. Also, go Toronto!

Go see Jesse Cook live if you can. Get your tickets early because he usually sells out. He has a great band with him too.

Prepandemic pleasure

That's right! It's fun!

Wait, you're not going to let us know what nickname Jesse gave to your brother? Or about the conversations your grandmother and Jesse would have while he was in the basement? You are such a tease.

Wow!! Headphones on today for a change - am loving the bass line in this track

Nice!!

Playing this directly after Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) provides an excellent comparison of 'machine gun' guitar technique.

Mr. Lee on an electric with slinky strings, and Mr Cook on an acoustic with (I think) gut strings.  Both have mighty fine fast-twitch muscles in their hands and fingers.

Thanks for the sweet post Sharkey
reading Cynaera to great music means a lot
I am always so happy when i hear songs in which accordeon ect. sound cool. It gives me hope that one day, I'll play in a rock band. {#Cheesygrin}

Thanks for the great post. We are doing the same here in Canada adopting & sheltering dogs that would have been rounded up & shot because they run wild on the Reserves up North. We had 10 adoptions rescued from Moosonee three weeks ago. We care & help as much as we can. Please "Like" "https://www.moosoneepuppyrescue.com/'. Many many thanks. To Bill: My apologies for using your platform for puppy rescue. Every bit helps. Fetch - The dog store in Roncesvalles Village Toronto.

OH!! I totally DIG Jesse Cook!!  Yay!! {#Dancingbanana}  {#Bananajam}
Great song to get moving to in the morning. Thanks Bill for a happy start to the day. {#Bananasplit}

Amazing.. just love it,, a bit like 'Le Boutine Souriante' ,,, gonna have to buy this Album

Is that like Poutine souriante?
Cheesy?
Not for me - this one is hitting all the right notes indeed.

PS Perhaps you meant La Bottine Souriante? As in: Smiling Boot?

A good song, but Cook has many better ones. Get some different ones going, RP!
And if you ever have a chance to see Cook in concert, do it. He is full of the joy of his music, and it is infectious.

Just thinking how good Jesse would sound cranked up on a new Naim Uniti system!! Oh yea!
This gets me in that Mardi Gras frame of mind!
Saw him in concert a while back in beautiful downtown Alamogordo.. fun guy and a great time.  {#Dancingbanana}

Actually,"Room to Move"was a copy(tribute)to Sonny Boy Williamson's 'One way Out".

Jesse is always a good listen. Now RP needs some gen-u-ine Zydeco music to add to the mix.
I'll second that!

Saw Jesse on a music-type show on TV recently (I think it might have been Austin City Limits, but I'm not sure). He talked about this song and how he got the title. He was jamming with Buckwheat Zydeco. (Yes, Buckwheat is on this track.) And every now and then Buckwheat would yell out "That's Right." Thus the tune was named.
I love this! Thanks for the info. I thought it might be Buckwheat....

i have to say its the most amazing concert i have ever been...if u have the chance to see him live,dont miss it.
Seen him twice live, and been glad to have travelled to do so each time. When I hear Jesse play, half the time I'm inspired to play guitar more, half the time I'm tempted to just give up, as I clearly don't make any sounds like that come out of my guitar!

Okey. I've been slammin' this guy for everything else that's been played on RP, but this is better. Fortunately a little more substance than the other stuff I've heard, which is pure drivel, only suitable for elevators and hotel foyers. A 4. New Jessie Cook alltime high! ;)
I am diggin on the morning Zydeco.... 8)
This set is making this guitar player very happy this morning!
just seen him live here in Vancouver few days ago i have to say its the most amazing concert i have ever been...if u have the chance to see him live,dont miss it.
first time I've heard this...WOW!~!~!~!~!~! Thanks Bill!
ahhhh... Made me long for a trip to N'awlins (The Big Easy, y'all). This track is amazing. How about some Radiators? Another good band I saw there was Papa Grows Funk... anyone got that to upload?!

Just what I needed this morning. This and coffee.
How can you not tap your foot to this song? Interesting mix of spanish guitar and zydeco

Wow, Bill, that's one hell of an acoustic guitar god playlist you've hit us with: Don Ross, Leo Kottke, and Jesse Cook. How about some Michael Hedges to close things out? Thanks!
Now THAT would be a topper!
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
That's Right!!!
Okay, three of the last four songs I already have on my iPod! Great minds think alike!
The whole album is excellent.
Sounds like Buckwheat Zydeco lending a hand. ??
Jumbalaya Baby !!! :crown.gif:

I\'ll add to that - great foot-stomping, driving music... i love mixing in hand drums and acoustic guitar... and accordian? Yikes!
Great conglomerate of styles, but seems a bit produced at times.
\"Foot stompin\'\" is a good description for this track! Been hearing it for years on KPIG, and I ALWAYS had to turn the volume UP! But it wasn\'t until hearing it on RP that I now know who the artist is. If Jesse\'s other works are on par with this track, I\'m buyin\' \'em.
Hey... dammit! My feet are moving, and now my ass too! Can\'t help it but to dance along with this fantastic stuff. Excuse me a few minutes...
Tres cool! I love the Cajun influence as well. Jesse Cook is an incredible guitarist.
Man this guy can jam!!!!
Love the Cajun flavor to this.
