Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds — Into My Arms
I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms
And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms
But I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candles burning
And make her journey bright and pure
That she will keep returning
Always and evermore
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms
And I don't believe in the existence of angels

Faultless delivery of a supremely beautiful song
Blinding.
This is a new Nick Cave song for me. I've loved everything I've heard from NC and this song is no exception. Thanks RP.
This is the first time I've been moved by Nick, nice choice.
this song is f'ing terrible, i am scared and confused. don't know much about this guy, but "Red Right Hand," one of my favorite songs, has just gone way down on my list.
i couldn't agree more. for some reason, i keep listening to it though. kinda like picking a scab.

Darn, I don't believe in any god, so I figured I should come along on my behaf and totally smote this song.
Oh and ignoring the lyrics I would still not care for this song at all.
Absolutely the worst thing I have ever heard!

Nick Cave is a superior lyricist whose dark undertones and passionate imagery is unmatched in the shadowy niche which he occupies. The sheer power of his delivery plus the intensity and raw nature of the emotions he conveys can be a bit too much for those who primarily consume confection.
Great song.

I agree...
Nick Cave sung this unaccompanied at Michael Huchences funeral. Not a dry eye. This is simply beautiful.
Thank you!

Ok, once again, RP has shown me that creative lyrics still exist in music.
It's amusing to me that I find the lyrics re-hashed and boring and everyone else likes it.

Great song....first I've heard it here on Paradise. Very intense lyrics, one of my favoorite Cave songs.
Way to go!!

Isn't he wonderful!
This song is in the Zero Effect soundtrack. I recognized it right away - one of those songs that you immediately like.
