That there, that's not me, I go where I please
I walk through walls, I float down the Liffey
I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

In a little while I'll be gone
The moment's already passed, yeah, it's gone
And I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

I suspect that’s the desired effect 🤔 ?!
Ouch, that dissonance hurts.
This song is a reminder of what it sounds like when whales die. Not that I've ever heard that sound before.
The drums, bass, and voice are steady and the other instruments and sounds waft through that like phantoms through a house that is only framed in. At the end the voice joins the wafting sounds and fades away. At least that's I see.
Masterpiece.
This sucks.

The only bad one I''ve heard from them.
Promises!

And when asked about the track he is most proud of he answered this song.

I had to learn to listen to this song because it moves me emotionally too much.
Chills!!
Well I was sure this was Other Lives "For 12" when this song started.

Just add it to the list of Radiohead tracks that stop you in your tracks... Sublime.

I've been a fan of Radiohead since the days of the Bends. What a ride it was to be on board during the journey between that and this, in particular.

They towered above everything else. They remain astonishingly, unfairly good.

There is so much here. I honestly feel bad for the people who insist its just an awful dirge or that Thom can't sing. Sometimes his voice is the most beautiful thing in the world. Sometimes it speaks to the frailty of the human condition. Sometimes it's a frantic existential panic.  There's always a vulnerability there. He is utterly genuine.

This band are a universe unto themselves.  They are worth your time. They're probably the most important and rewarding rock band of the last quarter century. Let them in, for goodness' sake.

As I read somewhere else, his voice is a distinct instrument

Delicate yet Dissonant

Peaceful but Jarring

Epic and Austere

Timely to Timeless

Affirming while Disturbing......this is Art....

Ok. You and your friends can please stop playing this one? {#Tongue-out}

Ditto (this rating is the the most acurate I have read here, sorry yall.)
If they know how, why don't they just do it?
Perfect......
the worst of the bad.
The Bends and OK Computer are two of my favourite albums. How on earth did they go from that to this whining dreck? Very disappointing!

I wish that Radiohead would just disappear! Mediocre!

I like when Teri Gross interviewed him on Fresh Air and asked him some question about "perfect pitch" and he said something like he didn't "have any idea what that is" ! (click here)
It's ironic that the vocals give Radiohead it's distinctive sound, yet the vocal performance is so unsupported and wimpy. I like Radiohead, even bought "In Rainbows". The vocals are still wimpy....
next one, please....
This sounds like a vague attempt at "head" mood music but fails to even begin to approach groups like Yes, Moody Blues, Alan Parsons Project.
Unfortunatly, this song has failed to disappear completely... how flat is this ?
On first listen, I've given it a 2. It might be a 1 though.

Absolutly.

That's who I thought it was before I checked! Same beautiful music and total lack of enunciation. Drives me nuts when I can't understand the lyrics -- why bother writing them if you won't enunciate them for others to understand.
Yeah i have that problem with the cocteau twins.
I've never seen such an even distribution of 8s, 9s, and 10s!

There's gotta be a reason why so many of us Zep-heads love Radiohead. It's probably just because we've got such damn good taste.
Yep...
Great lyrics, great tune!! Needs no further comment. After all, it\'s Radiohead...
I love this song - the slow loping groove, the sound effects, the slow build. It really works for me.

For me its a per song basis with them.

Put me in the former camp. It's time for a new Radiohead CD!
IMO, this loses something by being out of context with the rest of the album.
painful
i heard moaning and knew it was radiohead....yep!
Beautiful! …always great to hear.

There's nothing more depressing than Radiohead on a downer. Music to slit your wrists by.
Follow it up with some old Smiths and you're as good as gone.

I love this song. Radiohead can do minimalism as good as any.

In general, I agree, but this track gives me problems. I just can't quite get into it fully for some reason.
I think that's the point - least when I listen to it, I feel as if I'm disconnected; just like the lyrics say..I'm not here, this isn't happening. It's a transcending song...

Kinda boring but nice too. I give it a 6.
Then please go.

Seconded. Intersting rating distribution. Love it or hate it, I guess. . . .

I can certainly understand why Radiohead is not to everyone's taste, and some of their music is a mystery to me, but songs like this convince me that they are working on a level that very few other bands can achieve. I love the tension and the longing expressed, and I really dig the way their sounds capture the ethereal.
This must be the "weird noises in the background" set...

love it..ethereal, beautiful... radiohead is pure genius.
would be wonderful tune if the lead singer would stop singing
a great song.... for around 3am.
This song... There are very few songs which cause me to immediately stop whatever I'm doing, and focus solely on the music. This has always been such a song. Immensely beautiful, yet wholly depressing. I adore it.

Wow...
Radiohead have revealed little details about the new album to be released in 2006. I have written a couple of articles, including an mp3 of "Arpeggi" and video link for "House of Cards." (click here) (click here)
