Not only does he have the chops of a god, but he has a knack for interesting and, at times, understated melodies and production skills. Does he produce his newer releases himself? I ask because it really seems like his songs are written around, or at least at the same time as, the production itself.

Say him on recent tour. I have 5 or 6 albums but never really appreciated his skill and style till seeing him live. He plays loud, tons of volume  but the sound he produces is so controlled and clear. Good band. Only one song had vocal accompaniment. It was a great night of instrumental music. He even manage to sneak in his rendition of a Lady Gaga tune with warning to the crowd that it was going to tongue in cheek.

Well, neither artist was in The Faces, but when I first heard mention of a recording artist named "Beck", I thought that Jeff Beck had formed a new band, until I heard "Loser", that is.
