I picture you in the sun
Wondering what went wrong
And falling down on your knees
Asking for sympathy
And being caught inbetween
All you wish for and all you seem
And trying to find anything
You can feel that you can believe in

May gods love be with you
Always
May gods love be with you
Always

I know i would apologise
If i could see your eyes
Cos when you showed me myself, you know
I became someone else
But i was caught inbetween
All you wish for and all you need
I picture you fast asleep
A nightmare comes
You can't keep awake

May gods love be with you
Always
May gods love be with you
Always
May gods love be with you
Always
May gods love be with you

Cos if i find - if i find my own way
How much will i find
If i find - if i find my own way
How much will i find
If i find - if i find my own way
How much will i find
If i find - if i find my own way
How much will i find
How much will i find
How much will i find
You, yeh, you
I'll find you, you, you - oo
I'll find you, you, you - oo
I'll find you, you, you - oo

Oh i don't know anymore
What it's for
I'm not even sure
If there is anyone
Who is in the sun
Will you help me to understand
Cos i've been caught inbetween
All i wish for and all i seem
Or maybe you're not even sure
What it's for
Anymore than me

May gods love be with you
Always
May gods love be with you
May gods love be with you
Be with you ...

I like PG a lot, but I don't like listening to this demo track.
Thought I’d heard everything Peter has done but never heard this before. Love his work but don’t need to hear this again. RP, such a wonderful source of obscura.

Technically, if Gabriel merely recorded a song written by somebody else, it is not a "cover." A "cover" refers to a performance of a song originally recorded by another artist. So technically, Arthur "covered" Gabriel's recording (even though Arthur wrote the song).

JA song, but PG released it before JA.... I love it

Arthur Song , which Gabriel covered... even before Arthur released it. Arthur was on Real World, PG's Daughters brought Joseph to PG's attention
I know this predates her by a couple decades, but I hear a bit of Billie Eilish in this...
Long way from Shock the Monkey!! All good.
The gorgeous song "In the Sun" was written by Joseph Arthur.  This is a darker, more somber but intriguing version.  Peter Gabriel "discovered," Arthur in the mid '90s, signing him to his label.  Hence the connection.   I also recommend "Arthur Buck," a 2018 collaboration with Peter Buck, and Joe's gently uplifting 2019 record, "Come Back World."  Check out the excellent line-up of guests (like Jesse Malin & Mike McCready) on his podcast "Come To Where I'm From," THEN view his brilliant, collectible artwork on IG, soak up some of his poetry, and take a break to follow him for Ho'oponopono Fridays.  This guy is one unique talented genius spiritual guru MF.   And did I mention he's super tall, terrific live, and paints his guitars?

Very special tribute song from one of the best voices of all time. Please listen to the early days of Genesis.
Very nice. Really like this one.
Great cover from Joseph Arthur\'s original. Peter Gabriel never fails...
Bleh... *yawn*
