The first time I saw you, you were chasing down
A cyclone all alone in the field
With rail yards and clovers I kept rolling on
Never thought you'd wind up chasing me

Well, settle down
I won't hesitate to hit the highway
Before you lay me to waste, no
Settle up
And I'll help you find something to drive
Before you drive me insane

You're tired of walking and you loathe the ground
The sidewalk will barely touch your feet
And life moves too slowly to hold you down
With ringing hands you take it out on me

Well, settle down
I won't hesitate to hit the highway
Before you leave me to waste, no
Settle up
And I'll help you find something to drive
Before you drive me insane

So get yourself a car and drive it all alone
Get yourself a car, ride it on the wind
Get yourself a car and drive it all alone
Get yourself a car and ride it on the wind

Settle down
I won't hesitate to hit the highway
Before you lay me to waste, no
Settle up
And I'll help you find something to drive
Before you drive me insane

So get yourself a car and drive it all alone
Get yourself a car, ride it on the wind
Get yourself a car and drive it all alone
Get yourself a car, ride it on the wind

Not to be compared to RATM, but overall worth listen to...
it is always fun to see a super group formed by two of the '90s most influential mainstream bands produce the most forgetting subpar music ever. i wonder how chris feels that RATM is going band to their former leader - zack de la rocha......
You guys are tough. Chris Cornell is an amazing vocalist, and songwriter... and with the uniquenes of RATM musicians, Tom Morello in particular, Audioslave is one of the best bands around these days. Great live show too!
Ok by me
gosh, i love chris cornell, ratm, and soundgarden but i just can't stand audioslave. i bought the cd back when it came out and i liked it for about a week, then i realized it just wasnt that good. its pretty mediocre.

People might not like Chris Cornell, but at least it's not John Mayor, who's played 50 million mother-*&*&(**&^$$ times a day on the radio station they have playing at the gymn.
curious that the vocals would draw such ire :-k

I agree with you. rgj13 wrote, "Chris Cornell (from Soundgarden, in the 90s) is singing," but I would put quotation marks around the verb. Would rather hear cats and dogs fighting in an alley.
When Chris says "settle down," I listen. I would get myself a car and drive it anywhere he wanted me to...

I wish they had more 'Rage' sound in this band. As far as I can tell, they sound exactly like SoundGarden (not to say that's a problem, it's just nothing new)
Funny, I think they sound "exactly" like Audioslave
Sucky band name. Song not so good either.
This one hovered at 3 or 4 for me but thanks exclusively to RP I hate it hate it hate it now. 1.

Yeah, most of the songs I've heard Cornell sing, incl. many of Soundgarden's, aren't as strong on lyrics as I'd like, but--for me, anyway--his voice does a lot to make up for that.

I like this grouping way more than Rage....I never could listen to much of them. I like Soundgarden.
There is a note at the end of the first line of vocals which sounds just like my computer's warning "Ding!". Took me a long time to realize where it was coming from. Whew! Glad I figured that one out.
I like this. I like it a lot. So simple, yet holds you and won't let you go - not an easy thing to do.
Fantastic song. Chris Cornell's voice is truly amazing... His control and soft/harsh mix is impressive...
Horrid.
I knew I had heard that singer before. Thanks, I just couldn't place it.
great song. i saw these guys at lollapalooza in houston and they put on a great show.

Nice tune.
I like his singing too... Makes we want to get out the Soundgarden CDs... ;)
Chris Cornell, one of the better Rock & Roll voices out there, combined with Tom Morello on guitars - great music
damn, I love this song... I've always loved Chris Cornell's work (Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, etc) -- He's one of those rare artists who can stand the test of time!
This song lead me to believe I would like Audioslave. I guess I just love Chris Cornell.

Then you should get some antiseptic lotion and wash it off. Quick. Prolonged exposure to this tune could be hazardous to your health. I wish I had a getaway car so I could get away from this tune. Ech!
This actually has really grown on me.
I like the music, I'm not too sure I like the lyrics...

anyone wanna tell me why this song sounds like a lot of the same 'progressive rock' out there like Soundgarden, Alice in Chain, etc?
The vocalist for Audioslave (Chris Cornell) was the vocalist for Soundgarden.
Chris Cornell=good RATM=good Chris+RATM=not so good :(
This is really, really tedious......

well, the similarity to soundgarden is likely to have something to do with the fact that it is chris cornell singing..... his voice still gives me goosebumps!

Why doesn't Soundgarden just get back together? Same stuff.
It definitely sounds like Cornell. But it doesn't really sound like the stuff Soundgarden was putting out. Doesn't strike me as so unabashedly radio-friendly as songs like Black Hole Sun and Down on the Upside (?) were (though those songs were good...).

not even close bud! this sounds more like his solo stuff (Euphoria Morning) than any Soundgarden or Rage Against the Machine. This is a truly unique melding of the minds..
slave to sip. cheapbeergarden. dot.
I miss soundgarden although I did get sick of the over-play on the radio

I don't know anyone that came even close to sounding like Cornell. Now go listen to your progressive 00 vocal talents...

Funny, I was just about to say I can never get tired of Chris Cornell's amazing voice. And as for being copied, I can't name any. At least none that were good enough for me to think they sounded like him. Plenty of Eddie Vedder and Layne Staley clones though.

not my favorite cut from the album, but still good.
Wow...nice. Powerful vocals, well suited for the bluesy eedge.

Yes, I had just about given up on "modern rock" till I picked this album up. It stays in the car cd player almost all the time.
Way! That is awesome. Never be able to imagine I can hear something like this recorded in 2002.
