You swore off vice and habit
Trying to save your face
Need some lovin girl know I have it
Just to decorate your place

Dog my cat
Can't you scratch that itch
Things were more simple
When we didn't have a stitch

Bring that thing oh back home
Bring that thing back home

Well lord I need forgiveness
For the methods I use
I believe I can overcome them well
Talking about the blues

These hard times
They sink you down just like a stone
But you don't stop praying oh lord no don't stop praying cause

You gonna make it home

Bring that thing back home
Bring that thing back home

Some folks tried and some folks failed
Living without love somehow
Well that might float you know but I kind of doubt it cause
It;s sure been fun up till now

I might be the one
I'm laying silver down in your hand
Whatever else I may or may not be
I swear I'll always be your man

Bring that thing back home
Bring that thing back home

Thinking out loud.  Wouldn't something with him together with
Richard Thompson be cool?
Never  heard of Harry before - excellent. That’s what I love about RP!
perfect
RP turned me on to Harry Manx. They play a lot of his tracks. All tasty stuff.
GREAT!! I never heard of him before. Thank You RP!
can't stop moving
An easy "10" as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks, as always, B&R.
Tito n Tarantula,  the amazing Jeff Healey,   SRV,   Harry Manx,  Joe Bonamossa
fantastic music
Thx Bill for playing the best

Well done, sir. I have been looking forward to catching one of your live gigs for some time.

Try to catch him. Saw him years ago when they were doing 'lobby' concerts at the Kennedy Center. Excellent concert and he hung around afterwards selling and signing CDs and talking with everyone.  Class act.
So did Harry influence Ray M? I think so. Love to hear them together.

Ok im pretty sure I'm alone on this but this reminds me of Bruce Cockburn

Maybe he's just reminding himself of his one job: bring money home, lay the silver in her hand.

A good sample of Canadian blues
Harry always jokes "The blues is not about feeling bad - its about making other people feel bad"
This song gets better with every listen.

Sounds like Jason Isbell.

I was going to say that was some kcar vs proclivities shit going down, but jump roping dogs kind of stole the show.

Perhaps the 7 years apprenticeship in India helped a tad.

I can imagine you right now, playing your guitar and rhythmically typing your post with a pencil in your mouth! Since I'm doing the same thing, I can't raise my hand, but I'm with you!
Wow

LOVE this. Never heard the guy before...now i have to go get this album. MAN...

keep it coming!

Great song!!! Way to get behind the mule Harry!

"Dog my cat" always brings a recent meaning of the verb 'to dog' to my salacious mind... ;-)

Cool song. I don't know WTF he's going on about, but his voice is captivating and the sound hypnotising. 8 from the dirty-minded Nottingham jury.

RP introduced me to Harry Manx and this album in particular.  Wow, what a great artist and album!  Thanks RP and thanks to many of you, my fellow RP listeners who help RP along w/ some great suggestions.  {#Cheers}
Love that bass in the background. It made me realize that the reason I don't like blues that much is the lack of bass.
Love Harry Manx. He's also great in concert - go see him if you get the chance.

This is a tune that transcend ages.  How appreciative I am!{#Bananapiano}
Lovin' how the songs are just sliding into each other along such sinuous and tasty sonic lines...EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT FROM A STATION!
love it!
Had me swaying in my seat. Good stuff

I purchased a Harry Manx album after first hearing him on RP.  Every song he does seems to be a combination of two other songs on the album, so there is not a lot of variety.  But he has such a cool sound, I'm perfectly fine with that.

Is it just me or do all of Harry Manx's songs sound the same?
There was a little sample from "my favourite things"  on the guitar picking wasn't it?

Nice tune! I never heard of Harry Manx before but I'll do some research.

Thanks Bill!

With the volume turned up a notch:

8 —> 10
CLASSICAL "8"...
This particular mix of this song is one that grabs my soul and refuses to let go.  I believe in this case, it is the live element and unfortunately I can't find it anywhere.  So Bill, where do we find this live version of Bring That Thing?

Never heard of Harry Manx before finding him here on RP. Was amazed as his list of awards especially from Canadian sources. Yet he was an unknown to me. Thanks again Bill.  I am watching for tour dates around here.

I get the impression he is saying: "this is a 9, end of discussion", or "this is so much a 9 that I don't want to hear your feeble dissenting arguments".

The first use of this I recall was an early Preston Sturges movie entitled "Christmas in July".

These days this might refer to following cats hoping to spy on them having sex but I'd hope that such a 'modern' meaning of 'dogging' (see Wikipedia) wouldn't have applied in the days when this song was written ;)

Far out, Catherwood...roll another bomber and leave it on the sidetable.
Detta var skit bra!! (This where good as hell) as we said in Swedish. This is somthing like J.J Cale on real Blues. Soory for my spelling!
this really was a hard song to find, I had to go to his web site to figure out which cd this live version was on - I am so glad that Radio Paradise actually plays Harry Manx!
thanks for this one, it's such a great song...
Still lovin' this one...   {#Music}

Great voice, great playing...I keep forgetting it's live until the song finishes and the audience applauds.
brought that thing up from a 7 to a 8, simplistic but real nice like it

I have spent countless hours minutes trying to decipher calypsus_1's song comments with limited success. Why post "no comment" when not posting a comment is essentially the same thing? What on earth does "no comment" mean to say "everything" mean, anyway? (The more I read that the more it sounds like nonsense). I am utterly confused.

In order to maintain my limited grasp on sanity, I have decided to simply skip over and not read any comments I see that are made in a dark blue, bold typeface.

I think that is a very fine plan of action, which I will adopt.

Of course, now he'll probably just change the color of the typeface. But I am adaptable.

Wonderful song.  I saw Manx live this summer.  It was a transfixing experience that reminded me a little of the feeling I had when I first saw Lucinda perform.  Very sexy, very blues-ey!

I'm not getting the "no comment" thing either.  If the dude/dudette wants people to know he/she rated it a 9 just post 9.  Adding "no comment" is kinda weird.
