To wait for the bell to ring
T'ain't no big thing
The toll of the bell
Aggravated, spare for days
I troll downtown the red light place
Jump up bubble up, what's in store
Love is the drug and I need to score
Showing out, showing out, hit and run
Boy meets girl where the beat goes on
Stitched up tight, can't shake free
Love is the drug, got a hook on me
Oh oh catch that buzz
Love is the drug I'm thinking of
Oh oh can't you see
Love is the drug for me
Late that night I park my car
Stake my place in the singles bar
Face to face, toe to toe
Heart to heart as we hit the floor
Lumber up, limbo down
The locked embrace, the stumble round
I say go, she say yes
Dim the lights, you can guess the rest
Oh oh catch that buzz
Love is the drug I'm thinking of
Oh oh can't you see
Love is the drug, got a hook in me
Oh oh catch that buzz
Love is the drug I'm thinking of
Oh oh can't you see
Love is the drug for me
I'm 67yrfs old & started listening to them when "For Your Pleasure" was released. in 1973. My 2 favorite tunes were : "Do The Strand" & "Editions of You"! The entire album was and still is GREAT!!
IMO, there's lots of good to be found in Ferry's solo albums 'Bete Noire' and 'Boys and Girls' also!
So happy they were finally inducted into the Hall of Fame last year.
A little late to the party since these guys were recognized as groundbreaking in the 20th century. You might be surprised that a number of artists want no part of the "honor". It's the recording industry giving you a lifetime achievement award often before the artist is dead as if the artist was determined to be at end of their career.
Tired of this song.
Awww...maybe rest yourself. Don't overdo it. It's rough listening to music you don't have to choose yourself. Hang in there.
Love is indeed a drug. A habit-forming narcotic. Human beings will do very strange things to keep it flowing.
(I am getting married again next month, after ten years of being single. Love is an intoxicating, deeply addictive drug.)

So you're only 10 years old?
It must be a very slow-growing moss; this song came out over forty years ago.
Must be that dmcanany meant lichen vs. moss; that stuff takes much longer to grow!

To me a STRONG 8 - Most Excellent
Roxy Music - Brian Eno ≤ mediocrity
ETA: Ok, Mother of Pearl is brilliant
This was the last album of theirs that I really liked.

Brain Eno had left the group a couple of years before this song was recorded; he's only on their first two albums. This is still a great tune.
"If I had to choose between the two Brians, and I really would hate to do so. I would have to err on the side of Eno."

I second that ovation!

He left after album number 2. Siren is the band's fifth album.
My cowbell detector just went crazy
It's not such an earworm, less-known to US listeners – and I think, much more RP.
BTW: You and Rebecca have made RP into the best radio station / music resource / music community, that I've ever found, bar-none. Keep up the brilliant work!

Edit: that ending was terrible. 3—>2
Me, I think this is one of the sexiest songs every recorded (as dumb as it is). I think it has to do with a combination of the bass with the irresponsible lyrics. Mmmmm.
Hmm - that cover looks more Gollum than Siren.....
You must have been looking at a different picture - that's a prime Jerri Hall.

Bowie's Life on Mars and now this.... I'm in Heaven.
That version of Eight Miles High is on Flesh and Blood. I bought the vinyl album when it came out in 1980, that's 29 years ago - so it has had a long rest. This song is from the Siren album that came out in 1975. The first 5 Roxy albums, including Siren, are pretty cool art rock albums. There is a small component of Cheese in their work ( I'm sure it's courtesy of the crooner himself, Mr Ferry) but then again, cheese can sometimes be pretty tasty.
The "fromage a trois" ... smelly but it tastes good.
My "au gratin" view is that the Roxy stuff needs a long, long rest, especially that gawdawful version of Eight Miles High.

The "fromage" thing is coming up more and more on Roxy strings —- there's a whole fondue set on the Avalon comments.

FOREVER.
D'Oh!
intro, Roxy's Love is the Drug: walk, walk, car door slams
I just love it when Bill messes with random segues.
Yeh, it sounded like Feist walked out of the studio and into Bryan Ferry's sports car. Now that's an odd couple. But the segue works!

And.... they led me into real musical discoveries via Manzanera, Eno and the whole awesome alternative/world/indie/ambient/basically strange musics they have been into ever since. So not just pop.
...before she was Mick Jagger's.
